#3520913 Rogue with apparatus?

Posted Vexxius on 19 October 2011 - 12:45 AM

Definitely do not use Apparatus.

  • Strength is an awful stat for rogues
  • Apparatus' on-use (+crit) effect isn't that beneficial for Rogues, since Rogues already have tons of inherent crit built into their abilities, such as Backstab (+30%) and Ambush (+60%) (and also because Rogues stack Agility, granting a lot of crit from there as well)
  • Plenty of better options, ie: Resilience/Agility-on-use Ruthless trinket, Resilience/Agility-on-proc Ruthless trinket (if human, you can use both)
Don't buy and/or equip Apparatus!

#3515046 [Mage] Mastery Stacking at all gear levels?

Posted osorandom on 12 October 2011 - 08:59 PM

You'll get all sorts of different responses based on the mage. I'd say that 17.5% and rest mastery will be good. You'll hear responses stating go for intel and x% crit.. There is no real answer as what is best as everyone will have their own opinion on it. I can state though all mages will agree that you'll need a minimum of at least 17% crit.

no dont bind pet follow on sheep.
bind pet passive(follow), pet stay, dismiss pet, pet freeze to all different binds.
press pet passive when your casting sheep or focus sheep, then mid sheep cast put pet attack back on to a different target if there is one.

#3502869 Frost mage crit question

Because critting all the time isn't as good as sometimes doing LOTS of damage.  There's a fine line between having so little crit that your mastery stacking almost never results in double crits on shatters, and having so much that you crit all the time but for not enough damage.

Ice Barrier glyph helps when getting trained over a long period of time, but that's not really how Mages take damage.  We take big spikes of burst, usually with a healer CC'd.  Knowing that, you might only get off one or two IBs per "getting trained" period.  Evo ticks once instantly now, so even if that's all you get, that's three ice barrier glyphs worth of a healing, that can't be dispelled.

That, plus Evo glyph is just much nicer in 1v1/non-healer situations.  Frost feels sort of incomplete without it.

I've seen many mages glyph Frost Armor/Evo/Poly, but it seems like noone glyphs Ice Barrier. Do you think that 5-6k absorb is worse than occasional Evo heal or Poly removing DoTs (which the target should not even have in the first place)?

dots fly up every where it seems .. poly is essential simply for that reason - if you are hard swapping off a target and need to CC well you now have to wait the duration of a bleed or magic effect because you didnt want poly glyph which leads to your team being under pressure ..

ice armor is better than 5-6k absorb because when you're being trained 5-6k absorb isnt going to do much - keeping your mana up while using ice armor - will.

I'd say poly is essential, but evo/ice barrier is up for debate.  It probably depends on the comp/preference.

#3498434 [Mage[ When I'm getting Trained...

Posted Hazzah on 26 September 2011 - 12:35 PM

Well, the first thing to do as a mage vs. melee cleaves where they're training you, is to go frost armor. Try to avoid using mana shield, but do it if the pressure is too high. What you wanna do is basically get some sort of CC on the healer while the melees are rooted, because they'll use CDs or even trinket to get out of it. Once both have used their trinkets, you should just ring around yourself or root them -> ring, and have them forced into it.

Simultaneously you should have your mate get a stun on the healer or just blanket counterspell him into deep freeze and do your burst. The best way to relieve pressure off of yourself is to create counterpressure, because then they'll start playing defensively and won't put out as much damage.

Hope this helps.

If the orb will help you get lots of FoF which will help you get some nice crits on the FC or healers/dps.

Nope, frostbolt and lance calculates shatters on spell cast, not on spell hit

Frost armor when getting trained by melees. I even use it against RMP if they are on me.
