#4061012 @Nadagast, Moderation in Past Few Days

Posted Talbadar on 22 February 2014 - 11:08 AM

If you want this site to be a better place why would you make a thread like this? I offered to be a mod for this site a long time ago, but lost interest as there has been very little discussion about high-end arena topics over the past few years. I don't even need to know what Braindance posted to know what caused him to be banned. He continuously insulted other players on this site WHILE also contributing good discussion in other threads. Just because you did one right doesn't make up for the wrong. Saying "well I make instructional content for the site" while also being a part of the problem is delusional of you to say in the same regard.

I didn't ban Braindance, but I did give him one infraction.  I'm not uber anti-Braindance or something, and I don't think I'd be against unbanning him, if he said he'd act nicer.  I don't give infractions very often, and I've never banned a single person.  I have no idea about anything regarding your last suspension, I was not involved at all.  If you have problems with the mod team, maybe they're valid, maybe they're not, but they aren't with me.

Asserting that doing something is pointless doesn't make you automatically right.  If you think nobody will change, then you don't have to participate or get your hopes up, I don't see why you feel the need to tell me that.  Worst case, I'm wasting my time.  Let me.

#4058807 Don't be an asshole

Posted Nadagast on 21 February 2014 - 12:09 AM

I'm sure everyone has seen how much trolling and general douchebaggery have infected AJ.  I'd like it to stop.

Trolling and assholery puts AJ on a downward spiral.  People troll/asshole-it-up, which leads to less people using this as a forum for serious/reasonable discussion, which leads to more trolling, etc.  AJ always was and continues to be the most popular place for new players to get into the PvP scene.  Any community relies on new members to sustain itself--by making this place a wasteland we are doing nothing but ensuring our own demise.

Before you post a reply or topic, ask yourself: am I being an asshole?  If you are, change your post to take a more educational tone.  If you're feeling heated about something, take some time to cool off before replying.  Don't immediately assume someone is trolling you, some people are just not very knowledgeable.  Worst case, if you reply in a calm educational manner, you've posted something informative for the hundreds or thousands of lurkers who will view your reply.  These are generally newer PvPers, and anything you do to help sustain them as arena players helps all of us.

On any set of forums, it's easy to forget that almost all of the people reading it are lurkers, who will never make any posts.  Lurkers cannot be trolls, they can't be assholes, they are just here to learn or read interesting things.  Post interesting, informative content.  Post drama if you want, but don't be an asshole.  Fuck the trolls, post for the lurkers.

#3885653 WoW down to 8.3 million subscribers

Posted Affect on 09 May 2013 - 07:56 AM

I think it's to be expected. The people that "grew up" on WoW are getting older and are either going to more casual games or stopping completely. These later generations are tuned more towards console games or MOBAS. Not to mention there is no competitive scene in WoW. It's amazing how many people can get pulled towards a game that has 100s of thousands of dollars in prize pools.

Honestly, I believe streamers have caused some of this. Due to the amount of variety in streamers it's very easy to watch them and ultimately have them play for you. This isn't a diss to any of the streamers at all, it's actually quite impressive what some of those streamers have come up with and/or have going for them.

WoW is without a doubt a dying game. A very slow dying game, but one nonetheless. However, you can't knock them having such a successful life span. It is still ultimately the smoothest running MMO out there. I am quite sure they are happy with how well and for how long their game has stayed popular. I don't think it's even their fault. Yea the game has problems, as does any game. I believe it's just MMO's in general that is a dying breed.

The game itself is just old, yet still has almost complete control in the MMO market. So kudos to them. With that being said I don't believe they'll ever see an increase in subscribers. Maybe a few short spike resubs, but I don't ever foresee them going over 10m ever again.

fireblast glyph was shit mechanic anyway
a) reduced skill/timing required to play a mage = any noob could do the same, unavoidable damage
b ) didn't work half the time if you pressed it too soon after frost bomb is applied

good change, although i feel like maybe the CD of defensive dispel should go up a little bit. so that healers would actually have to make some sort of minimal sacrifice for dispelling frost bomb, seeing as now they can just never dispel anything but frost bomb

I never lost to mls as tsg since s9 untill now unless it was a dc or we did some major mistake, there is literally nothing you or your team mates  can do to prevent shaman dying within first minute. However if you meet bads and they fail to kill you somehow in that 1 min window game turns into your favor and you should win. However this wont be the case if you meet descent people

On the other hand you can ask Anotherx about it he can probably write a book about how to lose as tsg to mls :D

clueless nobody

#3807804 All MMR gets reset down to 2.2 next maintenance

Posted Nisslol on 20 November 2012 - 02:22 AM

In addition to the measures already discussed, as a result of the rating inflation that occurred due to the exploitative activity, all Team Ratings and MMR above 2200 will be reset to 2200 during the upcoming maintenance.

Please note: Conquest Point caps should not be affected by this reset. Point Caps will return to the appropriate levels relative to rating the following week.

Well better than nothing.

#3795735 Affliction vs Destruction, this season ?

Posted Nadagast on 27 October 2012 - 10:03 AM

My impressions:
Affliction is bad/mediocre.
Destruction is/will be bad as soon as people learn how to play against it.
Demonology is mediocre.

All three specs are very boring to play.
