So is remapping CAPSLOCK as another ALT (especially if you can somehow disable ALT-TAB... heh, yea). ALT is a really shitty modifier key for its default position, but CAPSLOCK is in a genius location.

This was an exceptionally well written post and will benefit many a player.

I know I derived some worthy information from it that I will be utilizing once I resume my foray into Arenas again.

No I don't. I'm currently trying to utilize everything I listed ;)

Except I play with friends mostly because I enjoy that more than playing higher with strangers running an easier comp. I know this hurts my rating but I'm content to play in lower brackets if it means I can practice and get better with friends I've had for years.

You fail.

The two worst strategic mistakes to make are acting prematurely and letting an opportunity slip; to avoid this, the warrior treats each situation as if it were unique and never resorts to formulae, recipes or other people's opinions.

I don't play 2v2. 3v3 I run Holy Pally/Feral Druid/ Me so it's a lot harder to get higher (it was over 2k but we've had some bad games the past few sessions). And 5v5 we've just been playing whoever's on since it's so easy to get your rating up in 5v5.

EDIT: Did some serious twos and we've gone up around 250-300 rating :P Our MMR is sitting at around 2-2.1k

2's is at 1980 now :D

One thing I've found is that when you hit the 2k+ bracket, it all comes down to luck. Not luck as in getting a lucky string of crits to win a game, but luck as in what comps you play against. Getting out of the 2-2.1k bracket was tough for my comp ( Feral + Disc ) since it was filled with many double dps mage/rogue hunter/ele sham teams that manage to gib my druid.

We eventually finally ran into some healer/dps teams and started winning from there. We were 20-20 this week before we stopped getting double dps teams. Once we finally got healer/dps teams we ended at 34-23. Not an amazing win/ratio, but the point is the comps you play play a very large role. Queue dodging or playing another day is key.

fruits and veggies do make you play better

Last week, i played while I was sick. Although I enjoyed myself, I'm pretty sure my teammate died a little inside as our rating plunged down about 200 points. I'm better now and yesterday, we were able to get most of our points back.

All that to say that you do have a point. Play when you're healthy and have had a good nights sleep. A tired or drunk player is not going to make the best decisions or have the fastest reaction time.

Good thread, it is very true that you must not blame others for a team's loss, always ask yourself what you could have done to do better/win.

Some pretty obvious stuff in here but i guess a guide is not a guide unless everything is in it.

I've read responds and can't help but laugh at nerds that judge by rating, OP obviously knows some stuff.

Beating up a guy I just knew from distance irl. He played on other realm on our BG and always stalked me online to see what and when I play - and then proceeded to countercomp me every single time. Beating him up after he pissed me off pretty badly after 20 consecutive matches of him doing that shit - has improved my rating by about 200.
