AJ needs more posts like this, even though it's basic stuff.
Good job.

I did that S1 through S4...I wanted to tape kittens to my fists and go on a baby punching rampage.

oh I know what you mean. most games are me getting locked down by almost any class in the game, while my dk kills everything. luckily in the 2.2-2.3k bracket i can outlast the priest, and the dk just finishes the rogue when he's done since it at least takes all his cooldowns to keep me from being of any use.

obviously i am exaggerating a great deal, but it really feels like it.

I love how this part of the forum is so much better than the gladiator-only part. :P

At least it makes a great excuse when someone bashes your 2v2 team as a resto druid. :P... ok fine now you've made me depressed :(

A couple of things I've learned recently:

If you go for rejuv->swiftmend instead of NS->HT when you're at 8k health, you'll probably die. :(

Unbinding Windows Key is VERY pro.

Quality stuff.

It's worth noting that many of these points are general enough to carry over into any competitive environment. I feel that the following (some paraphrased) could be well suited to any competitive environment, in a game or RL (some higher-numbered team-based games in RL maybe not so much):

  • You will always have room to improve. Once you accept this you can start getting better.
  • A win is the ability to successfully recognize what your opponents are doing/planning, act in such a way that their plans do not succeed or force them to deal with your actions, and communicating with your partner(s) to actually achieve a victory.
  • Run a viable [team]
  • Watch [videos]
  • Look for and correct mistakes you make
  • If you computer is good enough you can record your arena games with FRAPS. Go back over your games and you can critique your own gameplay to prevent from making the same mistakes twice. [Obv for real life applications, this would be replaced with getting someone to use a video camera, preferrably one with a very good capture rate so you can get high-quality slo-mo]
  • Ask other experienced players for advice.
  • Work on teamwork and communication.
  • Avoid tunnel vision at all costs.
  • Don't forget that timing is everything
  • Practice with your team and develop complex strategies.
  • Get your teammates to work on improving as well. They should be doing these things just like you should be.
  • [Find the right teammates]. You and your teammates should share the same goals.

Very, very quality advice!

Edit: Wait, was this already stickied? Or am I just really super tired? Or both? :D I hope I didn't report a sticky for a sticky request...

Unholywraith;

Do you have other char you have achieved glad with?

The two worst strategic mistakes to make are acting prematurely and letting an opportunity slip; to avoid this, the warrior treats each situation as if it were unique and never resorts to formulae, recipes or other people's opinions.

No I don't. I'm currently trying to utilize everything I listed ;)

Except I play with friends mostly because I enjoy that more than playing higher with strangers running an easier comp. I know this hurts my rating but I'm content to play in lower brackets if it means I can practice and get better with friends I've had for years.

Good tips. To add... never be upset when you lose, find out why you did and work on avoiding it next time around. Frustration is a huge motivational and morale killer. If mistakes continue on the same reason for losses then a little raging might help out to get into their mind to not make the same mistake again though =P.
