If its not passive, its a huge fuckup from whoever wrote patch notes. It does specify when it occurs (in caster and travel form) and says nothing about barkskin having to be active.

Yep, the fact that they put it in the talent "Improved Barkskin" makes it also sound like its only active when barkskin is up.

Hope its passive though.

its probably passive, and its not that huge. It was stupid before, where if you caught the druid in caster without barkskin it would instantly mean hes dead. They snipped some armor off tree form and spread it out amongst other forms, exactly like they should have.

What?
If you catch a priest that goes oom in 10second while you have 2mana bars and cyclone my shadowfied... their must be a way to kill a god damn druid and that's why it won't be passive.

If it is passive, what are druids thoughts on tree form? Will they ever use it except for 2 dps?

Because if they don't plan on using it as they feel the mana cost of constantly switching forms to cyclone/root then back to tree often is too much, this means there will also be a slight efficiency nerf.

Tree form also reduces the cost of HoT's by 20%, gives extra % healing to party members, and imp increases their sp by a portion of their spirit. If druids don't use tree form anymore then this is a pretty nice efficiency nerf.

Much better change than people are giving credit for imo

Look at the wording of the current talent: even though it's called imp barkskin, it specifies that the effects it grants only hold while barkskin is up. The new change makes no such qualifications; therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that it is a passive change.

edit: iirc you get hot reduction while out of treeform as long as you have specced into tree.

Yeah I just read the talent, reduces cost by 20% and grants the ability to go into ToL form. Maybe moving that 20% less mana cost while only in tree would be a good change?

I'm not saying that, I'd much rather see druids out of tree and ccing. But they can't have it all, this change gives them the mana efficiency, decent survivability, and the cc. All of which could be argued are better than the other healers.

My thinking was if the 20% less mana cost was moved into tree, druids would have to shift into that for healing (meaning more shifts = slight efficiency nerf), while still being able to actively come out for cc as they now have this passive armor.

Idk I haven't played my druid for a while now but I think druids may be too "complete" compared to the rest of the healers with this change.

the armorbonus will be passiv, cuz if you do some math you'll see that armor in caster/travel will be nearly the same like in tree (with tree just 200%). so i think blizz wants us to go in tree to get that extraheal and not cuz its our only way to survive while being focused.
good change imo, i hate to run around in tree just throwing my hands in the air...

I'm amazed how people can even consider saying that they hope it's passive.

Meh whatever, you can already step out of tree and be fine.

But people still won't step out of tree.

It's fine though, cause I enjoy free wins vs other druids who don't leave tree

It would still be good if it wasnt passive, because you could still be in casterform a lot and hardcounter a swap every minute
If its passive, its nice for 3v3 and way overpowered for 2v2

If it will be passive, then RIP all the other healing classes (happy that my droody is atm 56). It will be terrible cycontrol, burst, overheal from the side of the druids >_>

Yeah guys PASSIVE 10K ARMOR IN CASTER IT'S SO OP.

Oh wait, that's less than shamans and paladins by a mile...

I certainly hope this goes passive. You should too. If it's not passive, druids will continue to sit in tree all day and you'll just be back to complaining about "FACEROLL HOTS OMGOMG." The only reasonable solution I see is to not punish good druids for trying to CC. The current system punishes them severely for getting out of tree.

The best solution is to buff caster survival and nerf tree survival. That's exactly what they're doing. This is why every druid is saying 'holy crap, blizzard made a smart decision.'

Maybe 160% needs to be slightly tweaked. Maybe 200% needs to be slightly tweaked. We won't know until we play games. The concept behind the change, however, is VERY sound.
