So, which weapon is everyone going for? I just recently got my lock to 80 and I'm not sure which is best.

unless you plan on stacking haste, that sounds like a horrible idea

Didn't realize that, might go staff. For anyone wondering,

staff:
186 stam
82 int
2 sockets (1 red, 1 blue)+7 dmg bonus
587 spell power
92 haste
92 resilience

mh/oh:
148 stam
79 int
1 socket (blue)+5 dmg bonus
665 spell power
39 crit
82 resilience
55 spell pen

so staff over mh is:

+38 stam
+3 int
+red socket
-78 spell power
+92 haste
+10 resilience
-39 crit
-55 spell pen

You would also be losing a lot of whatever you gem to make up for the spell penetration loss

I don't think that getting the staff is worth it

staff is just better overall for destruction

u can socket 1 blue or 1 and a 1/2 for the missing spell pen

Wouldn't you have to socket a minimum 2 spell pen gems to make up for the OH? Or at least 1 jc spell pen gem and maybe the green one with 8haste/10 spell pen?

not really, if u think about it.. when u played affliction lasy season u had to deal with more shadow resists, when your destruction your main dmg is fire.. so not as much spell pen is needed.

besides 130 spell pen is nice to have but isnt completely needed... 110 is enough for me personally.. and it will prolly be what i have when i get teh staff and full furious

66 is all the spell pen you would have from furious wand/cloak enchant, and without gemming for it. Unless i'm missing something, then you need 2 spell pen gems to hit 106 which is what I will probably go for if I use the staff.

Destro uses CoE.

On the staff topic, why not the crit staff. Backdraft seems to give plenty of haste as is, and if you double crit with Chaos Bolt/Conflag it's pretty much game over.

I don't like this change. People who thinks rogues are overpowered are terribad.

Competitive warlocks will never stack an RNG stat.

Assuming you gem the sockets with the same blue gems and a 19 spell damage gem on staff for socket bonuses, as well as 81 spell damage enchant on staff vs. 63 spell damage enchant on mainhand, this is what my numbers show:

MH/OH
39 Spell Power
39 Crit
55 Spell Pen

Staff
38 Stam
3 Int
10 Resilience
92 Haste (or whatever other variable stat you want)

Seeing as destro uses CoE (and doesn't have to deal with fire resist aura and whatnot the same way shadow does), I'm going to be going with the staff.

The staff is ugly as sin, however.

Dagger is a clear winner!

Unless you're stacking haste idk why you would pass up the fifty some spell power.

You're an idiot bro.

It's not a choice of stacking, it's built into all of our pieces. It's not like other classes don't have crit on their gear either, or even gem for it( not suggesting locks gem crit). The fact is this is a destruction topic, and probably should have been labeled that way, and crit is a critical part to destro actually killing something.

not to mention, the MH already has crit on it....

obviously we'd be "stacking" too much crit with the staff, thus making you "not competitive".
