Hey champs,

I was thinking of going with lock for legion and have been googling a bit about demonology for legion. I can't get any concrete information as to what talents might be the best choice and how to even go about managing all the new/extra pets.

Here's what I got so far;

Shadowflame, for me this is awesome to have again, both other talents seem to be damage talents aswell. This one seems to stand out because it's great against melee. (also, extra shard yay)

Impending doom, sounds good? all three talents don't seem that game changing.

Shadowfury, to get those bolts off, I suppose demon skin could work situationally, SF over coil because of the range/multihitting ability.

Power trip, Not sure how big a deal shards is but to have this available sounds really good to me.

Demonic circle, well, I just like the teleport for survivability. dark pact vs bursty comps I suppose?

Grimoire of synergy, sounds really amazing, have yet to test that myself. Not sure how much need there is for stronger demons, pet uptime and consistent damage is already there no?

Bolt bolt bolt, why did they ruin the hard hitting effect :( no matter.. still picking bolt

That's how I set it up right now, could be terrible i'm sure I have yet to test it out.

In short; has anyone played demonology up until 110 and if so, can you give me some information/insight as to what works and what feels like it isn't going to be the go-to talent?
Pruning aside, I want to start practising on my lock and any help or even the prospect of a discussion regarding the specialisation would most likely save me a lot of time/testing myself. Am I lazy? Yes, but I also would like to provoke a discussion about the matter.

tldr; thinking of going with demo next season, what would be the best talents to go for and why, perhaps any tips on rotations and/or setups, what comps would work?

Cheers boys,

xoxoxo

Oh this video is really helpful,cheers!
I have been looking around on youtube just didn't see this one yet.

So this build is all about building shards so you can implode your imps, worth a shot.

--

Edit:

After playing around with implosion a bit it feels very difficult getting 3 hand of gul'dan casts off to implode. There's too much mobility/movement going on to land this; so I end up imploding any amount of imps I can whenever. Anyone got any tips?

Yup.

Not only because at lvl 110 you'll gain the artifact ability that hits like a truck :wub:

Alright so I get off a few double, occasional triple hand of gul dan+DS+implosion bursts and I do quite a bit of damage on the charts, but the actual damage I see ticking off my enemy players is a laugh.. what the hell :/

Feels like quite a bit of effort to build up a proper burst and then it does hardly 15-20% damage off the health bar. lol

also not sure but does demonic empowerment increase the implosion damage?

I don't think so.

It doesn't I just checked.

Does anyone run with the Implosion build? Basically main burst is,

Demonic Empowerment -> Soul Harvest -> Shadow Bolt (spam) -> 5 Shards -> Hand of Gul'dan -> Shadowflame x2 -> hope for good RNG -> 5 Shards -> Hand of Gul'dan -> Implosion

Most RNG comes from Soul Conduit, I can sometimes get 13-15 imps out then I implode them. On the Raider Training Dummy with decent RNG I got in 13 Implosions (had to Implode twice) in Season 3 Blue PvP gear I did 1.3m

4k image so if you are on mobile just a heads up)

I think that is pretty good TBH

as maldiva said in the video it works best if you work with a sequence of 5 -> 4 -> 3 shards per Hand of gul'dan to get a triple implosion off. Somehow my damage counter got to over 4 million with that which is insane. It's all about getting that dark soul off before you implode and making sure you use only 1 shadowflame per hand of gul dan

ie 3x shadowbolt, 1x shadowflame, hand of gul'dan (5 shards)
2x shadowbolt, 1x shadowflame ( just comes off cd) (4 shards)
1x shadowbolt, 1x shadowflame (3 shards)
dark soul -> implode

all while keeping doom up to boost your last two hand of gul'dans with an extra shard thus making it 2x 5 shards or 2x 4 shards if it ticks at the right time.
This does tremendous amounts of damage for me :)

also you are right, you have to implode twice to get the max amount of damage done.

Depends on which Training Dummy you were hitting and how many you are hitting as I can't seem to get anything higher then 2m. But also I am still in Season 3 Blues

You actually get that at 100. It only takes about an hour to get your artifact initially. Might be longer with lag from launch.

This includes the demonic empowerment and I played with demonbolt not with conduity. This was all on a lvl 100 dummy. Naturally damages will be different at 110. Plus I included the infernal etc.

Looks like they will be decent in RBGs - a lot easier getting a ton of imps out for an explosion orgy along with Doom + Darkglare, decent spread damage

Can't really speak for their viability in arena though, perhaps decent with Fel Lord

I can honestly say I have never been out damaged by another Warlock (Aff, Demo or Destro) in the Arena or in BGs.

My Demo rotation is quite simple:

(You start with 3 Shards now)

SF > SF > HoG > Empower > SB > SB > SB > HoG > Implode

You should still use Empower, so your first set of imps and your main pet become empowered. Always make sure you "Implode" before losing your imps. Summon as many Imps as possible but its far more important to implode your imps before they drop off.

As an opener, I tend to summon my Doomguard and Fel Lord/Observer before I Empower my first set of Imps.

I wouldn't worry too much about the SF/Doom DoTs tbh. Demo is not a DoT spec and you already have a lot to think about and manage in PvP. Also, there is so much happening in the Arena with CCs, defensives, drains, Peels, Positioning, Gates, etc - you wont have enough time to manage DoTs as a Demo Lock. Just summon your Imps, Empower your pets and implode your imps before they drop off. Simple :)

The above is assuming you are using the Implosion build ofc but as I said, I never get out-damaged by other Locks and particularly those using the "Zoo Build". I can easily triple the damage of Locks running that build.

P.S. Aff is absolute trash atm. I cant believe how much Blizz have ruined Aff Lock.
