Hi guys,

Just thought I would point out some things which I've noticed about holy paladins after new talents kicked in. Feel free to correct me as these are just my observations and not necessarily correct.

1. Aura mastery no longer prevents silence: This I feel is a direct nerf

2. Light of Dawn a thing again: instant cast with no holy power with a 19 yard range- not sure what to make of this yet.

3. mastery: requires us to be close to target for higher healing making us susceptible to CC- this forces us to take beacon of the light bringer.

4. Divine Steed: 3 second speed boost but now shares gcd with freedom which really hurt


Honor talents could easily turn all of this around but let me know what you think.

Just queued a bit of games on Beta.


Here are a few things I think should be looked at:
  • We need more baseline crit ( I feel if holy shock doesn't crit it really puts us at a disadvantage.)
  • Artifact weapon being casted? How come Resto Druid's artifact is instant cast lol? Also it locks you out on healing tree if interrupted.
  • Flash of light doing abysmal healing (5% of someones HP bar)
  • Curse of Tongues really hurts us, seems like our casts are so slow with this up.
  • Healing through warlocks seems almost impossible (especially Warrior/Lock/Healer)

I think our utility is fine. We have undispellable sac, and BoP's which can be used to mongo all in with melee cleaves. Survivabililty seems decent, just seems like healing spread pressure needs to be looked into.

Holy Paladins look really good only thing is that with all these OP aids comps right now like shadowcleave, you'll struggle healing multiple targets at once

Been playing a lot on the beta and overall pretty disappointed. I think they will be fine for a while due to the melee spec being good with cleaves early on, but they will fall off really hard if something doesn't change.

Hpal are not the best healer (Surprise surprise it's rdruid - EDIT : Not now after buffs/nerfs) but they are fine in my opinion. Not the best but clearly not the worst. Our usual tools are still here (BoP freedom sacrifice) and the last one became finally undispellable. Some others are quite cool like bestow faith and rule of law to heal at extreme long range.
Our artifact spell can be interrupted while some others not but overall it's a bit meh. Not gamechanging at all but nice anyways.

The loss of denounce make the spec really... slow when you want to assist dps or you are not in melee and if you don't have the melee talent (Avenging Crusader).
Speaking of this talent, you can have one of the best burst damage as a healer (More than a dps sometimes) while healing a lot, if you manage to get in melee range.

I notice that the healing is transfered to the beacon of light so maybe with the new beacon of vertue (15s cd 8s duration AoE beacon) you can heal through spread pressure? However if feel this talent will have huge limits in the way that you have no speed boost at all beside 3s every minute (Talented), that it's the effective damage which is convert to healing (So absorb and damage reduction negate the efficiency) and people will get used to kite it and make the talent useless. We'll see.

Light of the martyr is a replica of saving grace but less efficient. Same mechanic anyway.

Blinding light and repent received the mage's favoritism treatment and now remove any dots on the target.

Ultimate sacrifice is completely broken to negate burst but you are vulnerable to brutal swap while on it.

The artifact major trait are not really original but quite efficient. Even if they are not really controllable. (Power of the silver hand for example can be used to spam Martyr during the effect and heal yourself with one holy shock after. Rng however)

Holy Shock has too long of a CD as well. They need to buff Flash of Light healing and reduce the CD on Holy Shock, and give us some more baseline crit since we do not have denounce 2 set now.

Problem is people complain a ton atm because their class is not as strong as prior to the prepatch. Please take into account that a) theres no Artifact Weapon yet and b ) no Honor Talents PLUS almost every class is a lot weaker atm then they were before. Just be patient.

Artifacts traits are meant to work inside rated arena/rbg? I thought i read somewhere that the traits would be disabled ...

Couldn't find the bluepost, but Artifact traits/abilities will work in arena, but numbers may be adjusted while entering a PvP instance.

I was so prepared and excited to try out the new stuff, logged in after almost a year of inactivity and I logged out after an hour or so as i did not enjoy playing at all. I don't have beta and was playing on live so I haven't tried all the new stuff so I have to try that out before making a final decision.

question: Aura of Sacrifice = permanent "death" effect on ccs ? like: poly = your hp goes up to full fast and dmg will be then redirect. does that work ? lol

then again ... Light of the martyr being spammable and breaking ccs... balanced i'd say

aura of sacrifice doesn't seem to actually break cc. it's a bit useless as it risks to get you lower on hp losing out on the pvp talent "vim and vigor" that increases your healing if you're above 80% hp.

you could potentially fix this by having beacon on yourself all the time but this kinda kills the talent that makes your beacon also trigger the mastery effect (+%healing to ppl around you or your beacon), not forcing you to be nearby your mates ( i find it unrealistic that paladins actually need to go in the open outside of that pvp last tier talent that converts dmg into healing) -> with beacon on yourself you need to be near them anyways..which maybe works in a melee cleave?

then again im not on beta so im pretty clueless
