My partners and I have a hard time using vent in push to talk mode, we just can't seem to spare the finger while fighting. I've tried leaving the mike open by disabling push-to-talk and setting the sensitivity to 0, but the lag makes it unusable. Does anyone have a suggestion for using voice communications with-out having to push a button?

Thanks

I got addicted to using my caps key after using it for.. about 6 years. I tried not using it and I find myself making a ton of awkward noises. I was doing 5s last season and I spazzed and hit over a bunch of cans and it pretty much cluttered vent for a while.

i kill people if they even hold down the talk button to long, i hate hearing breathing and shit.

Could be due to the fact that i have my sound all weird so i can listen to metal while i play wow and be on vent so if their mic is to loud etc i hear everything.

but yea push to talk only with my group :P

It's more that they don't want to constantly hear you breathing into your mic.

you kinda need push-to-talk if you're not a single basement dweller, unless you're a exhibitionist.

when we are on vent i never use push to talk but then my mike will send loud static sounds so we just go to skype no push to talk and no static there (But my PC fails so i will play like with 16-20 fps)

I always use PTT, I really have no choice since I play in one of the center rooms of my house. Of course, I make sure to hold down my mic when one of my cats is being very vocal about humping his pillow or my mom is talking affectionately to "Woody" or "Gordo" and calling them "big boy" and all.... my guildies seem to like that.

I haven't used Push-To-Talk ever. Set sensitivity at 60 and the mic actually sits close to my mouth. Nobody hears me breathe(perhaps because I'm not a 600 pound dude) and absolutely no problems. Honestly I don't know how people can play with Push-To-Talk. Mic never engages unless I'm talking.

Just started using it and it is tough to get used to after having used PTT Vent for years. Though I must admit is nice,

I have my PTT bound to caps lock, which changes the functionality from push-to-talk to push-to-toggle. As long as caps lock is toggled, people can hear me. I push the button once, start talking, then push it again when I'm done. Not having to hold down a button is great.

I had the same problem. My old push to talk key was bound to the minus key on the corner of the numpad, it was terrible. Best thing I ever did was get a mouse with an extra button on the side, which I now use to talk on vent. Its so much better and faster then using a key on your keyboard.

I dont use PTT while doing Arena. Set the sensitivity to a value which picks up your voice easily while not picking up your breathing.

Just use the Monitor tester in the Setup Options to see average numeric values your Mic is picking up when you talk.

I think being able to not use PTT is fairly dependent on the quality of your microphone. More expensive, better quality, microphones will filter out background noise and breathing, while queueing when you are talking. I'm able to set my activation sensitivity to 8 on ventrilo and never have problems with breathing noise, etc.

Also helps if your mic has a mute button on it, incase you know you'll be making noise or you're talking to someone in the RLz.

Not having a PTT button for me would be bad, I use my middle mouse button as it's always easy to click.

I use PTT just because there's normally someone else talking near me, always.
