What do you consider alive? Enough people to be able to populate a single server? We should define that first.
What I consider alive is +10 mil subs with mainstream attention such as commercials and silly tv show references (the wow southpark episode). Maybe brewing as a potential esport? A game that can beat that retarded tree painter in follows on twitch.
What is your definition of "alive"? Is it safe to say that wow is currently 10% of what it once was? In terms of playability, popularity, and attention?
If that is your definition of "alive" then there aren't very many video games considered "alive". Everything you just said is like a 12 years olds definition of a game that is alive.
1. "10+ mil subs with mainstream attention on tv shows and commercials" is this seriously what you consider an "alive" game? Last I checked wow was at like 5 mil subs or something? Do you realize how monumental of a game that was 5 MILLION people playing it is? If everyone did at least one battleground a week with 5 mil subs that would be 250,000 wsgs a week, or 35,000 a day. That's if everyone does one. That's fucking massive. Also you really think that because wow hasn't been in a South Park episode or family guy episode that it is considered dead? Well I would guess league of legends is dead now too because I don't recall seeing an episode on that.
2. "A game that can beat that painting game on twitch" so you think that because I game is not fun to watch (like every mmo) it is considered dead? Do you know how twitch really works? If lirik and summit were to stream a game like Diablo 1 it would without a doubt be at least number 3 on twitch. Would you consider Diablo 1 alive? People who go on twitch either have their streamers that they watch every day or they go to watch a game that is fun to watch, like an fps or a moba. Even if wow was at its peak right now and there was 12 million subs, it still wouldn't be watched very much. You know why? Because it's a fuckin mmo who wants to watch people farm? Or wipe on a raid? Or roll on gear? Fucking almost nobody, but it's fun to play.
3. "Safe to say wow is 10% popularity...." Where the fuck did you come up with this number? Let's just say wow did go down to 10% of the subs it once had. Okay so it's peak was what? 12 mil? 11 mil? So let's just say it went all the way down to 1.1million. Guess what. It still wouldn't be dead! They would probably get rid of a lot of servers and just condense it down to a couple and it would still be HUGE!!! Even with 1.1 mil that would still bring them in 16.5 million dollars a month. That's still profitable as fuck.
4. "A game that a potential esport" so if a game can't be made into an esport it's dead? Okay well I guess fallout4 is dead guys. We had a good run. Oh and that new mmo Tom Clancy game that's coming out sometime next year hopefully, better not buy that game because according to this guy it's going to be dead before it comes out because there is no esport potential.
Long story short you fuckin kids use radical words too fuckin often. Dead does not mean what you think it means. This game is definitely smaller in numbers if that's what you are trying to say.
