Ret 3s comps
Posted 01 July 2015 - 03:54 AM
So I'm playing on running some 3s with a couple friends of mine. One plays Resto Druid and the other plays ret pally. I was wondering what would be some decent comps. I know ret/hunter at least was solid, but are there any other potential comps? I know ret isn't the best class in the world and i'm not expecting rank 1, but I also don't want to hate queuing with a completely garbage comp.
I'm willing to level/gear pretty much anything, but for 100's I already have: Warrior, Lock, Shaman, Hunter, Feral, Rogue, and Priest.

Of course you have your usual ret/hunter as always, and thats probably your safest bet. But ret/spriest, ret/dk, ret/mage are pretty good comps you can do quite fine with.

DK is next best bet, followed by probably Mage, Warlock and Spriest but you're going to have to put in some work to convince those specs to Q with Ret
I'd like to try WW Ret RDruid, but they have no purge in a purge happy meta so it might not be that good

I prefer combat because my dong is large and I will face the enemy like a man rather than sprint over to a pillar for a re after my opener is up.
sorry, I don't speak duellist

Well I talked to them and the Resto Druid has a DK that he wants to play, so chances are we'll end up Ret/DK with me healing. With this, would I be better off running Hpal or Disc? I know Hpal is stronger, just don't know if the double pally is a bad idea or not.
Ive been the main person running ret/dk/hpal this season.
Some tips as the comp is you guys need to tunnel healers with 2 rules.
One: Always get hoj into dr Hoj off. Its very important you guys keep your hojes lined u.
Two: Do whatever you can as a healer to prevent the ret from ever having to peel off or heal when you guys are going offensive, aka, have CC into the healer going for a kill.
Dont be afraid to bubble as an hpal either to get teh DR hoj off if it for sure is going to nab the kill. Playing aggressive as that comp is the most rewarding.
Ret/dk/rdruid is kinda similar in that you tunnel healers alot and play pretty aggressive, but if you play rdruid, the importance is more on doing swaps with a full clone put on the low target when you guys run out of CC to maximize pressure.

So would Ret/DK be worse than WW/DK?
In the current meta with all the hpals running around, I think that ret/dk is a tad better than ww/dk since ret isnt so easily gimped by a mechanic like bop on karma, and has additional ways to keep their healer out of CC to play aggressive longer. Plus additional freedoms for dk.
