Usually to stop a sheep, fear, blind et. et al, i swd my focus. this doesn't always work for various reasons (e.g., if i have mage as focus and rogue is running across map to blind me, mage is too far).

I want a macro that tries to SWD anything in sight (my target first priority, my focus 2nd priority, then anything else). Any ideas?

for some reason this doesn't work (never SWDs my focus, ever):

Quote

/cast Shadow Word: Death(Rank 2)
/cast [target=focus] Shadow Word: Death(Rank 2)

Also, I would like to add a line along the lines "target hostile and swd"

Thanks

It wont ever SWD your focus because of the first line in the macro. If you just want to SWD your focus, only use the second line.

I actually use:

/stopcasting
/cast [harm][target=targettarget,harm] Shadow Word: Death

This way works best for me, but I must admit I still struggle to get the timing right against the mage's cast.

It's all practice I guess!

You can't do that, the game requires you to use your brain at least a little bit.

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast [target=focus] Shadow Word: Death(Rank 1)

You might as well use rank 1 :o

/cast [modifier:shift, target=target] Shadow Word: Death(Rank 2)
/cast [target=focus, exists] [] Shadow Word: Death(Rank 2)

SWD focus if you have one. With shift as modifier, SWD your target if you have a focus. SWD target if you don't have a focus.

/cast [harm] Shadow Word: Death; [target=focus] Shadow Word: Death;

casts SW:D on your target if its an enemy, else it casts on your focus target

This is true.  They broke the ability for macros to spontaneously decide upon whom to cast a spell or what spell to cast a long time ago.  Both of those must be predetermined by you.  "Anything in my sight" doesn't qualify, unfortunately. =[

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was even an addon that could automatically cast Abolish Disease or Dispel Magic on the appropriate friendly target.  You press one button and it determines if anyone within casting range has a disease or magical debuff and, if so, casts that spell on that person.

Present it.

/cast [target=focus] shadow word:death works fine, but often you dont need it to be honest.
