I wanted to take a little bit of time this afternoon to speak on the subject of players who dodge other teams in rated battle grounds. As a player who had to deal with sitting 8+ min queues and fighting 1700 teams 80% of my rated battleground career, this topic is near and dear to my heart.
Dodging is when a team of lesser quality, waits until the team of higher quality gets into a game to queue. This can be done many ways, watching the stream of the team, having one of the players on real ID, and even making a character on the server of the leader and /who and refreshing until they get into a game.
Listen, i get it...it's not fun losing in ANY bracket. The thing is, rbg is already a less competitive scene than arena, and full of scummy things like ddosing and fly hacking. This tarnishes our reputation as players and causes arena players to look down on us. The fact of the matter is, rated battlegrounds takes as much communication and coordination as arena. To micromanage 9 other players and work to a common goal of an objective, depending on the map, requires an immense amount of synergy and overall game knowledge. People don't realize how much skill top level rbg players actually have, they assume because they don't arena much that they are lesser players when in fact, some rank one arena players try and rbg and get cropped by "mediocre players".
I stray from the point, this expansion gives all of the teams that were very good, but never had the confidence to queue into the major names in rbg like Team Abn, or Team Bailamos. These other teams like Naz, or even the Eu swine country teams, we would see them once or twice but there isn't a constant effort to improve themselves by queuing into the best of the best. The only way to get better is to challenge yourself, even if it is at the cost of some Current rating. I mean at the end of the day what is current rating if you dodged for 3-4 hours a day to earn it? Farming 2k teams for 3 points a win, knowing deep down in your heart that, yeah, you're a "High Warlord" but at what cost?
The point of this rant is not to discourage or put down anybody in particular, but to empower them and give them confidence to not only make a solid team next season, but to actually play. I look forward to seeing everyone next season, good luck!
