Some of you might have tried arenas on WoD beta realms and some may have noticed that melees are very dominant there.

CC got nerfed, while CC breaks, mobility and instant cc of melees have been mostly untouched.

Holinka just tweeted:

@holinka @itsTheed @Celestalon Definitely an issue we continue to discuss. Solid feedback is starting to come through. Keep it coming.

So they are watching the situation. What do you think about the current beta situation? Did you have similar experiences with melee against caster? What would you change?

What needs to be done is simple.

They're removed shitloads of CC from casters, and they made sure that casters can't stunlock people and instead only offer polymorph-like CC qualities to their team ( like, SPriests can't "stun" anyone with Psy Horror anymore and still do damage to them, and have Fear on 45 sec cd ; Mages can't "stun" someone with Deep Freeze and still do damage, list goes on ). Basically the days of Deep Freeze into Psy Horror are over.

The main problem with the above paragraph is that from what I've heard and seen, mobility of melee classes is still unhindered. Without the ability to stun them and do your damage, casters will face the problem of melee simply running away and playing defensive until CC on their healer is over, giving a big middle finger to every caster out there that doesn't have a stun ( surprise - none do ).

And on the other hand, melees retain their current abilites. Warrior can still Fear while focus stormbolting or shockwaving people. Monks can still leg sweep/ox wave and they can still Paralyze.

TL;DR - casters got fucked with the ability prune. It's time for melee classes to get fucked with the ability prune. Except rogues, rogues are fine ( only remove BoS ).

And as for inevitable comments about "wizard overlords" from melee peasants - the problem with castercleaves is that once stats start hitting on gear, casters outscale melee. Have balanced gear, have balanced game. Simple as that.

Combat rogue seem to be completely broken in WoD beta. Empowered bandit's guile and instant poison featured with the 8 sec kidney shot is goddamn strong. For now if you get the deep insight buff and press killing spree any target dies in 2 seconds.

Gouge too. Maybe not entirely remove because of it being iconic, but definitely 5-10 sec longer cd or higher energy cost with mutilate, venom zest, energy glyphed rogues having 155 energy.

Warriors have also been "shit on" in terms of CC/utility on the beta. By quite a lot, actually(lost charge stun, double stun, disarm, a whole talent tier of control..). Sure, we can still fear and stun a target but that's about the extent of warrior control.

As for the beta itself... I dunno. It's hard to get any decent testing in with how often it crashes. And with how many broken things there are in general(mainly the classes/specs that can live forever and off-healing of some specs). I personally think they need to fix the majority of the broken things before actual, solid, testing can start. I will say with warriors so far though that... Our burst is broken on the beta in the most recent build. I mean, with CDs and some rng you can almost 100-0 someone in a few GCDs.

Sadly I can't say much on casters(haven't played against any good ones). Melee do seem strong atm, though.
