Did spirit suddenly become unnecessary?

I'm just wondering what kind of comps you can play that make matches so short that spirit doesn't matter. Since I can't link the armories, I'll just mention the character names. They're the #3 and #4 holy pallies for 3v3 on WorldofWargraphs.

Bacharette on Archimonde-EU - 2809 CR, 2511 spr

Top pally on Razuvious-EU (Some Russian name) - 2729 CR, 2999 spr

I've been away from the game since November, but I didn't think I missed such a drastic change.

But the gear is 550 now, your passive Spirit on Gear is so much, you dont even need that much anymore.

Plus going for crit and intellect makes you heal more, the more you heal the lesser spells you have to use which leads to not going oom with that spirit you got.

It's not even passive spirit on gear, though. They're running with 3 pieces of spr gear, and they have less than 3k total. I'm just used to games lasting for a decent amount of time last season, so are all arena matches really short now?

Edit: I'm even seeing a top RBGer running barely any spirit. Is spirit necessary even in 2's?

They spend a lot of time in cc, so they need to maximize their healing when they're not cc-ed, so they stack crit and haste. I guess they also play zergy comps like KFC so games don't last long, making mana a non-issue.

As for RBGs, I can't imagine ever running them without a crapton of spirit. Even with 13k spirit, mana can sometimes become an issue during those prolonged fights around nodes (like on Gilneas, Deepwind, etc).

I feel going OOM is a lot harder at 550 but still doable...especially in RBG's lol.   I'll stck to my spirit as a priest. :)

The crit vs mastery/spirit discussion is comp dependable.
If you run kitty,kfc or any other cleave with massive amount of damage you should run with crit.
Due to the fact that kitty for example is 7-10 minutes games.
And your feral will take massive amounts of damage espeically while
in deep for instance.

But if you run a spell cleave aka double caster you can focus on mastery/spirit for longer survival and mana input.

I'm running with crit/haste with 534 ilvl. I've came close to going oom let's say 1/10 games maybe!  I'm playing hpal/ele/warr atm. So most of the games are generally over pretty quick!

the top hpalas in EU normally run comps like kittycleave or monk aflic pala which means games end very quickly and as those comps you want to win within 3-5mins and you don't need to worry about mana 3-5mins into a game as a pally so they run crit/haste no spirit build even blue gems are int pvp power it's just best for comp. If you are running a comp like lock ele pala or ele war pala ect you go with mastery/spirit build because games last longer (mastery/spirit will be better for long games over crit.)
