I ran some s15 gear numbers. Fury can reach 40% crit with proper itemization/profs. Any thoughts on its viability at those numbers? Anyone play with it on the PTR?

There's a difference between trying to ride a bandwagon and discerning the viability of a spec that is very stat(crit) dependent which also is an alternative to another spec(arms) that doesn't scale well off stats. Especially in a situation, like now, when stats jump up tremendously.

I was rolling 254k dragon roar crits last season

If it wasn't completely runined by hitting more then 1 target then I'd use it all the time

I was getting some ridiculous numbers with RB+HS(170k RB+50-60k HS). Though, I believe that was done on a mage w/o molten armor. But Fury's Csmash dump does quite a bit of burst if stuff crits(RB hits quite hard along with spamming HS).

But this is a legitimate question to ask this season. As for the first time this xpack, Fury is going to be the one with the upper hand dps wise at the pvp ilvl(I believe Fury starts to out scale Arms at the 540 mark). Buut I'm also not sure if the gap is even that large. And with how Fury deals damage compared to Arms...it can be quite annoying to say the least(much easier to peel Fury bursts/set ups).  And Fury's MS being rather annoying to maintain at times(costs 30 rage with no procs)....

I haven't played it much.. But so far the consistent damage still feels lower than Arms. The burst, though, is definitely higher. I dunno, I'm going to have to play some more games as it(hard to get decent games on the ptr, though).

EDIT: Are you sure Fury can reach those crit numbers? I recall having 32-33% on the ptr. Unless you are including the crit buff.

Its not a bandwagon, some people (Myself included) Like the playstyle of fury better. Arms is boring and not everyone wants to be forced into one spec just like some people would like Assas or Combat to be viable options or Fire to be more popular, or even frost dks to work. There isn't anything wrong with people wanting their class to have the flexibility of say the shamans right now,  where every spec has a glad capable comp it can run.

Stacking Full crit you should be at 35% unbuffed crit. Furys burst is alot better then arms for sure and the burst outside of cds is amazing, I have hit 160-185k Rbs on casters (Mages take the 185k hits more then other casters) with 50+k Heroic strikes, Add in another 60+k from auto hits connecting the same time RB and Heroic strike hit and you have knocked out close to half their hp in 1 gcd.

I have been playing fury on Ptr and its damage is definitely good. Its sustained is lower then arms still but the random Rb burst crits make up for it imo. I have seen 100k Rbs without cds popped. With mage buffs Fury is sitting at 40% crit, add in a class that can give the mastery buff and Fury is extremely Deadly.

2 questions regarding fury:
1) I recall at the beginning of MoP that fury warriors could get a shit ton of pvp power from equipping 2x 2H, is that still the case?
2) Would you play dual 1H or 2H in pvp as fury?

My profs on the ptr are BS+JC and I have full crit gems minus the chest and helm socket bonuses and I believe I am sitting just below 33% crit. And I also have crit off pieces. Not exactly sure what I'm missing to make up for the 2% crit. Just wondering what I might be missing.

1) That is correct but it got fixed in 5.3 if I recall and the pvp on 2h is now unique meaning you can only benefit from either 2-hander's pvp power when playing TG fury.

2) I would play arms but if you must play fury then TG (2h) is better overall, SM (1h) only having slightly smoother rage income and bigger dmg burst on shockwave, dragon roar and execute (abilities that don't scale with weapon dmg).

The pvp power on the 2h has always had the (unique) tag.

I'm pretty sure it stacked atleast in the first season of mop but it doesn't stack anymore so it is irrelevant

Gem All crit in every sockets use the jc gems, you should be sitting at 35%

Fury can't be viable as long as enrage is dispel able, and as long as berserker rage breaks fear, but mainly the former. Also would help if dragon roar didn't get absolutely fucked by multiple targets, which there always is

No, it's unique. You can use a two hander and a one hander and get the stacked powe but it's not worth it
1h for big dragon roars 2h for big raging blows

Displels aren't the issue, BS being a fear break isn't the issue either, its the bloodthirsts crit mechanic and Cs reallly, If it were like 40-45% Bonus crit instead of double crit chance and if CS could be reset or even just has a base cd for fury of 12-15 sec then it would be amazing. Even how things are now it can still work because your sitting at 35% crit on ptr and get up to 40% with the crit buff, making RB's nearly always available since Bt will almost always crit at that point and its not hard to line up 2x Rb with CS.

Just like you see people wanting to play fire, or  boomkin, or combat, or survival, or ret, or anything that they like to play and is more enjoyable then what the class has available.

I seriously wonder why people act like giving more classes the shaman treatment, were every spec has a t1 glad capable comp
