I dont gem Int anyway.
19.122 int (melby) / ~17.997 (me) vs. 26.95%crit / ~30.5%crit vs. 28.037sp / 26.867sp.

1200 spellpower more spellpower vs ~ 3.5% crit
Maybe personal preferance :P like the treants

(talking about retail, in general)
__

I have 7% hit on the PTR. I could gem PVP Power / Crit into my gloves (blue gem slot) and belt to get rid of the extra hit

You are on the PTR though aren't you? Could you just try to swap out 1 gem 160 pvp power with 160 int and do like 1xmoonfire with similar buffs in between both gems? If its better in your setup, its surely better in Melby's.

I like treants because of the utility they bring. Its so easy to set up beam/root and peel melee with roots. Rooting several targets can be pretty clutch.

Ye just do 1 pvp power gem do a moonfire without no eclipse or buffs, check what a regular tick is without crit.

Do the same with 1 int gem. No socket bonuses etc

^ hm :)

I dont really feel like there is a huge difference in gemming int / pvpP on the PTR, but maybe thats just me.

I do think that our damage is pretty good tho!

Well looking at the screenshots, PvP power equals Intellect pretty much. Considering you're gemming for crit and not int. If you are gemming int in every red socket, gemming 160 pvp power in blue will pretty much be the same as a 160 int.

For gearing it would still be int > pvp power though.

This has been an interesting thread to read. Thanks :)

I've been casually leveling a druid planning to play boomkin, and it's struck me that the gear upgrade for the next season should help boomkins slightly more than other classes, I think. I wonder if there isn't some undiscovered potential there. :D

Do you mean in terms of more crit? Warriors gain the same advantage through being enraged then, no?

the 10 k haste cap is definitely going to be worth it if you can be over 30% critchance, bro do you even PvE?

Yeah, definitely all classes have some benefit, but haste and crit multiply for boomkins to produce starsurge procs. I can't immediately think of another class with such a huge PvP benefit based on two secondary stats, like starsurge procs. Warlocks get more shards with more haste, but they don't also gain shards from mastery or crit.

Also, more starsurges means more time spent in eclipse.

I'm not saying that this is enough to make boomkins super good or anything, it's just something I've been thinkin about.

I think it will be minimal, but you're right. Some classes scale better than others. Rets scale well with haste aswell for example, but I definetly have a hard time seeing them as the hidden champions of the next season :D

My point regarding the 10k haste softcap is that you won't be getting a cast off anyway if they are on you. Why not get more crit instead then so you can actually cast? If they do leave you alone, they still won't let you tunnel into them, and gearing for those extra ticks which is minimal damage seems really odd. Sure you might get that 1 tick extra that can crit, but out of all the ticks wouldn't a few percentage on each be better anyway? Same goes for when the starsurge actually lands, rather it crits or ur burst is out the window.

I guess its up to personal play aswell. I doubt you'll find it very rewarding though.

Moonkin revolves too heavily on the quantity of SS procs, rather than the quality. Secondary stats like haste and crit tend to outweigh int (as far as gemming), and PvP power doesn't offer that game-changing value.

Looks like a potential for more throughput with pvp gems next season. And the way we scale I have hopes for next season... although I had high hopes for 522 as well. With the hotw nerf they're going to have to wake up and throw us a bone soon. :(

I play haste>crit now and I don't think I could live without it. The globals really are noticeable.

Ele shamans, to a degree. More lava surge procs from higher haste, and more overloads on the lavabursts from higher mastery! More damage so you can do more damage, basically.

Next season is going to be retarded.

arena is always fun when ele or boomkin pve comps are viable =)

No because the difference is when I play a comp i play it close to skill cap

if anyone needs to be banned, it's you. You do nothing but sit on AJ being a passive aggressive idiot that nobody likes, sorry you stink of washing up liquid.

Feel free to call me an idiot because I'm a hunter or some stupid ass remark but I've actually written all this down on paper

I actually made an appearance at DH2014 and I met up with people from twitch who were involved with the dota 2 / cs tournies that where there, I talked about the game from my perspective as a professional player and we actually shared a lot of opinions. All I'm saying is a lot of people will be VERY surprised about the future of this game in the esport world :)

How much haste rating did you have with your haste build? Is 30.49% haste with or without moonkin aura? I'm interested in seeing if the 12439 +3 non-nature's grace DoT breakpoint is achievable in next season's gear. I'll try it out later on the PTR, but still interested in getting more details on these numbers.

Here's some interesting napkin math. I think I'm doing it right. It looks pretty good for boomkins, I think...

This season boomkin:
http://us.battle.net...Iamzod/advanced

9 ticks * .24 (crit) * .3 (proc chance) = .65 starsurge procs per dot.

Assuming that Siou's build above doesn't have moonkin aura on, and with aura he has enough haste to reach the 10 tick breakpoint. Even if this isn't true, it's pretty close.

10 ticks * .34 (crit) * .3 (proc chance) = 1.02 starsurge procs per dot.

Even if the screenshot is with aura, we could drop ~3% crit for ~5% haste. That'd give:

10 ticks * .31 (crit) * .3 (proc chance) = .93 starsurge procs per dot.

We're looking at ~50% more procs next season. That seems pretty good to me. Unless Iamzod isn't gearing the right way?

30% Haste = 10.289 haste cap, 18% Haste = 5273 Haste Cap (refering to Iamzods 24% haste I was in moonkin form)
12K haste cap not worth imo, because you will lose too much crit rating.

Iamzod has only 24% crit :D I guess he has no starsurge proccs ever.
But in the end I guess that these caps/talent choices are not that important.
I'm the only one (?) who uses incanation / nature's grasp glyph / nature's vigil. Just take the hastecap / talents that fit your playstyle and comb the most

https://docs.google....THc&hl=en#gid=1

This Season
Iamzod: 11 target ticks * 0.24 (crit) * 0.3 (procs) = 0,79
Siuo: 10 Target Ticks * 0.3* 0.3 = 0.9

Next Season
Siuo10289: 11 * 0.34 * 0.3 = 1.12
Siuo5273: 10 * 0.36 * 0.3 = 1.08

remember that I haven't specced into HOTW. Crit rating would be higher.

(no idea what these numbers are telling me :D)

But the gameplay is much smoother with 10.000 haste. I really prefer it over the 5273 haste gearsetup
