Killing Spree is now single target in 5.4. Will this be the rise of combat rogues?

Combat
  • Killing Spree Step through the shadows from enemy to to an enemy within 10 yards, attacking an enemy it every 0.5 sec with both weapons until 7 assaults are made, and increasing all damage done by 50% for the duration. Can hit the same target multiple times. Cannot hit invisible or stealthed targets. Blade Flurry Effect: Killing Spree will teleport to and damage a nearby enemy target every 0.5 sec instead of focusing on your primary target. Requires Melee Weapon. Rogue - Combat Spec. 10 yd range. Instant. 2 min cooldown.

Basically with Blade Flurry up, it's just like it is now, multitarget. But with it off, it acts as a single target spell.

That data-mined T16 PvE set bonus:

Quote

Item - Rogue T16 4P Bonus (New) Killing Spree deals 10% more damage every time it strikes a target. Abilities against a target with Vendetta on it increase your mastery by 250 for 5 sec, stacking up to 20 times. Every 4 Backstabs, your Backstab is replaced with Ambush that can be used regardless of Stealth.

Does this mean it averages 30%, 40%, or 10% more damage per spree?  Not sure how to interpret this.  If it is 30% or 40%, would that be enough of a boost to use pve gear for combat assuming nothing else changes?

Yes, Combat now has all the tools to be a good PvP spec.

Woundman seems prophetic. Combat/MM Thugcleave looks good in 5.4. Now we need Fearie Fire to be nerfed.

uhhmm what about casting killing spree from stelth with nightstalker ????
stack 30% dmg then > kidney > smoke bomb >vanish >  killing spree ? Shadow dance in 5.2 would be jk compared to this dmg output and you can't peel killing spree ?

Reminds me of Ming always saying combat would be the top pvp spec.

Oh god I really can't stomach playing combat PvP, I've always enjoyed playing sub but it looks like combat will be what the thugcleaves and such will want :<

Just stop. A lot of rogues don't even want to play sub anymore. It's such a garbage spec now in terms of playstyle... Which is why they're looking into other specializations. Sub already got it's nerfs and buffs. Now they need to look to other specs.

I'm really liking the patch notes for rogues though.

Big boost to recup. With PVP tier set increase and Glyphed 6% per tick almost makes it worth the glyphnow with the last patch nerfs to garrote and cheap glyphs.

NightStalker now looking pretty sick.

And assassins stacking 250 Mastery up to 20 times on the 4PC bonus. I assume it means if you vendetta someone, each ability you perform will put a 250 mastery buff up. If you perform another ability within the 5 seconds, the 5 seconds refreshes and stacks another 250 mastery up to 500. Up to.... 5000 bonus mastery. Or until you get a down time of 5 seconds on the target. Gradual poison buffing the more you stick to the target once you've vendatta's pretty sick. Achieving 5000 buff with all the cc's about, pretty tough, will be interesting to see what constitutes "an ability"

With the other tweaks. Looking good overall for rogues.

If you think faerie fire is balanced in it's current state, you're the one who's class biased here. The spell is ridiculous against rogue now being as it's instant cast, 35 sec duration, no CD, and dispell has a CD now.

From what I remember, KS makes you immune to all of that.

Sub has gotten boring. It doesn't need to be the godspec for rogues every single patch.

For the people who are talking about glyphing recup, what would you drop?  For reference, playing as combat, Woundman is currently using blind, garrote, and cloak according to the armory.

Blind... I don't even use blind now, playing in BC really taught you how to use your blind effectively.

As combat you could probably drop Cheap Shot, too.

Would this make double rogue healer almost unstoppable? Killing spree is pretty insane if you manage to get your target singled and out in the open right now as it is. Without an immunity I can't really see much surviving.
