So I checked MMO-champion today, and saw a blue post stating this:

"Warriors are just HORRIBLE on PTR. Dead in three seconds, dominated by ranged classes. Enough already.
What changed from live? We buffed warrior defenses and no caster should have gotten large DPS buffs. (Source)"

Anybody tried warriors on PTR yet? I'm curious as to if this is true or just somebody not knowing how to play properly xD

I also heard a rumor from a buddy that Arms damage is the worst out of the melee atm on PTR, true/false?

Warriors are good on the PTR, they don't just die and they're not rage starved anymore.

Die as in just as fast as we do now? Or can we actually take damage without falling over in fetal position?

We played some WLS recently on it.

Sadly out of 3 sessions we've not gotten decent queue times or even any proper teams (10 min + queues at 2.1k mmr....).
It's a polar opposite of last PTR which felt more like a tourny realm whilst this one's just dead.

The only difinitive conclusions i've drawn thus far are:

It's bugged to shit, maybe the latest patch is better but it's hard to test stuff when stuff like frost bomb was doing 30% more damage than intended, scatter/trap still dring etc.

Healing's a lot harder on PTR than live, it seems to have taken quite a nerf. We've hit the stage where if you have one solo dps on you even with all your buffer heals/hots/shields etc your still forced to hard cast a lot. That can be an issue as everything has 1,000,001 backup interupts after you fake their main one.

Healing through offensive cooldowns is a PITA and i found myself stacking major cooldowns to survive even a single offensive cooldown from the opposite team.
Plus we herp derped some healers through all their defensives/healing cooldowns (admittedly as kfc). I recall seeing my hunter and warrior going all out on a shaman right from the start. Connect, avatar/reck, tranq shot spam with a stampede. The shaman rotated quite nicely through link/tide/ascendance/ns etc and he still flopped before avatar was over. All i could think after was "Fuck, outhealing trip dps is going to be impossible"

If anyones up for some wargames or decent queues though to test things properly then i can scrape together a team and see how things feel vs real teams.

You still fall over but defensive stance actually does something now:p

What did they do to rage generation? Did I miss something?

I understand how Warriors will survive better in 5.3 (25% on Defensive Stance again), but if you're in Defensive Stance, you'll still be starved (same as live).

You can stance dance for rage (which is what most Warriors will do), but if you're caught and stunned in Battle Stance, of course, you're going to die insanely fast.

Be prepared. Sure u can randomly get stunned out of nowhere, but most of the time u can see when they want ur D.

I think they removed the rage regeneration of Second Wind and moved it to a ability that gave you rage when you were snared or something, can't remember exactly. A friend of mine said he didn't have rage problems on PTR.Posted Image

I'd be really careful about ptr speculation, i was on there and the amount of mages id fight at 2k+ not sitting in molten armor vs a hunter...

so many people on there just trying out classes its very hard to get a good picture of what things will be like

Actually what i'm curious about is how the changes applied to the other classes will affect the warrior, because the changes on the warrior aren't huge, some other classes have some more serious changes, so how is going the warrior compared to the other classes in this patch ?

I see. Well, Unbridled Wrath certainly isn't the reason rage generation might be good on the PTR, since all Warriors have this on live currently (comes with Second Wind). With 5.3, this change only affects Warriors who don't currently have Second Wind as 2nd tier talent choice.

Who knows, though... I hope your friend is right!

If they added "snare" to Unbridled Wrath, that'd be pretty crazy...

We still have to just play in defensive stance if we don't want to die. Yay.

It's kinda impossible to get 3s going. Even 2s queues are long most of the times. I am not sure about the competence of the opponent but it felt like warriors were doing better consistent damage and were ok defensively. Again it's mostly 2s, it's hard to predict how things will translate to 3s unless there is something majorly retarded.
I felt like mages(even fire) , ferals and rets to some extend, were a bit too strong.

Am I the only one that doesn't feel super gimped in defensive stance? I don't really have a problem getting damage out.  Of course battle is better, but defensive still feels fine.  Mbe it's just me though

Except for teams with a mage or rogue, I don't mind live as a warrior atm.

25% def stance, and nerfs to those two classes should make us good again.

(lol at expecting mage nerfs though)
