for $50 if you can pick up a used HD555 + clip on mic... you're golden.

That's a cool idea.  I see one on amazon used for $65.  Not quite $50, but that's going to blow any shit turtle beaches out of the water.  That specific set has the 595 mod, making them basically as good as $200 headphones.  Not a bad deal.  But you might not be able to get them for <$50.

from past experience with another pair of turtle beach i do recommend you try them out before you buy them cus my turtle beach really hurt my ears after like 1-2 hours cus it wasn't really covering the ear as it said it will ( kinda sat on the top part of my ear)

Basically anything that says "gaming" in its title is going to be bad and/or overpriced.  That's a good rule of thumb.

Both turtlebeach and that creative fatality headset is trash, save up some more money and buy a quality headset or headphones + table mic (? whatever its called)

Personally im using the logitech g930, good audio and microphone quality and it's wireless, sure audio quality is probably not as good as a sennheiser, but it's good enough for me and it's wireless. Don't think i'll ever go back to having a wired headset again.

While on the topic, my headset's mic recently died (after 6 months, thanks steelseries) and now I'm looking for some decent quality clip-on mic (preferably). I've searched the older topics in here and I've seen multiple people suggest the Zalman clip-on, but the more I look into it's reviews and whatnot the worse it looks.

Any suggestions regarding a somewhat decent microphone?
