Hey,

As everyone know they reduced the ilvl cap for pve items in 5.3 but now there was an increase of the amount of PvP Power Rating needed to get 1% PvP Power from 265 to 400. Now this is a huge nerf for damage dealers overall.

I run with 60% PvP power on live, on PTR i got around 39% meaning there will be a overall huge damage reduction in arena in 5.3!
Haven't we waited for this? a overall damage reduction in arena that affects everyone.

Probably so that pve raiders can join arenas/rbg with their epics even easier. I'll most likely gem mainstat fully now instead of PvP power.

Hope this wont overdo it though, 20%'ish dmg reduction might make some games even longer than they're now (shatterplay mirrors for example, next patch boomkin/ret/x/x etc..)

I don't think PvE items will be more attractive than PvP items, if you are full pve you will still do less damage than with PvP gear. But as you said it will now be possible to do arena with pve gear.

But arena is boring on live because of all this insta gibbing with pve trinkets and damage being high overall. Now PvE trinkets is getting lower ilvl + a 20%~ raw damage reduction in arena.

This will bring back the playstyle that you need to setup a kill, not zerg it down.

or atleast what i think.

This is  a great change and was needed

Like the poster above said this will definitely make some games last longer, but the bright side is that this gives everyone a much better chance at living through thug cleave openers

What he meant is that gear will matter less, i.e. the difference between a fully PvP geared and a fully PvE geared character will be much smaller. Which is exactly what the game needs.

What I'm not sure about is if the global effective health buff is necessary. Nothing is ever in danger outside of long healer lockouts anyway, this will make you feel even more useless outside of cooldowns and healer CC. It's not just that, but the implications of this particular change are insane - it won't just affect every comp and matchup, it will change the entire dynamic of the game. I find it odd that they add this in just before the patch release.

Also, warlock dots are gonna hit for what, 2k now?

This will only make the comps with a lot of CC even better then they already are.

Less pvp power also means less healing, no?

So healing will be lower..and damage will be lower.

yeah that sounds about right, seeing as they made healing scale better with pvp power and increased the percentage on battle fatigue, sounds like a global reduction on everything, which is exactly what the game needed.

idd this will make hunters and mages a lot more viable than b4 but cuz of their cc mostly.Idk if i'll like this change, idk if im a mage and i dont want to not 1 shot anymore , but i feel like games will last like 10+ mins which i dont like.

I don't know if this is true. Afterall, they did increase the healing component of PvP Power but the damage component was not increased. So they are able to tune it for damage or healing overall. So just because PvP power now deals less damage, doesn't mean it heals for less.

Holinka already said that it should hit for what it does on live, and the hit it took on PTR was unintended. So this is actually a "buff" compared to the 25k absorbs you saw on PTR:

EDIT: nvm. Someone should just log onto the ptr and check.

EDIT 2: Healing is reduced as well.
