your style of nitpicking posts for faults rather than adressing them as a whole truely amuses me, that's 1 reason for me to post here.

some of the other reasons being the fact that most of this thread has nothing to do with the bombing in boston.

It's not my fault I address your entire post but you can't synthesize that information appropriately.  This always happens.  I say enough for you/most people to pick up on the entire point but you don't so I have to painstakingly break it down to the most minute elements.  Just employ critical thinking.

Anywho, this thread blows (the past couple pages) and I've wasted more time than I ever wanted to having inane arguments.  This is my last post in the thread.  If Bareblar03 wants to continue his conversation with me, he can in PMs.  If Emmune/Reliuna wanna have a go at me because they can't decipher context/use critical thinking, then cheers.  I don't know why I ever reply to Reliuna when he is a blatant contrarian.  Emmune actually does argue well/present facts well for the most part but this has gotten to the point where it's not worth continuing (for me).

If I do post anything more in this thread, it would be directly related to the situation in Boston and subsequent personal stories and not what this thread has devolved to.

a subject being personal doesn't make it valid for discussion amongst strangers from different parts of the world, I explained this thoroughly but apparently you are illiterate? you thought you had to break it down to part(s) because you didn't understand that I had already adressed said part(s). you didn't need to break it down to part(s), so please adress it or stop replying to my posts if you are unwilling to discuss the subjects you start.

Wow I can't even believe that you guys will argue over such trivial shit.  Talk about derailing a thread.  If anything the mods should take this to PM's and leave this thread to be about the tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Not to get too in the middle of things here, but demanding respect after making all those baseless claims is a bit contradictory. Also, while you're welcome to express your feelings, keep in mind the context/mood -- do you think that there were people who may not find humor in the situation and your joke? Would you have gone up to anyone who was there that afternoon and said "yeah that race was a blast!!"?

Not everybody finds everything in good taste or humor. That should not be a deciding guideline; it's way too subjective. People have COMPLETELY different attitudes to these kinds of things; those who honor the dead through "respect", and those who wish to lighten the moods of the suffering living through humor.

Who is ANYONE to decide what is good taste in humor or not?

If you think that x amount of people need to be killed to quantify a thread then you are sociopathic.  Hmm, 234 people died in this one, that's juuuuuuuust short of my 235 death quota for relevant thread creation.  Too bad!

Agreed, the reason why these events are dramatized to the extent that they are isn't because of the scale of death. That would be demeaning to people who die in other unfortunate tragedies, as if their lives weren't worth as much because they happened to die in a smaller cluster.

It is because of:
1. Proximity (It happened in my backyard!)
2. Intent and Context (Wtf, peaceful, prestigious marathon of all people, nationalities, religions, and races bombed)

Basically when a disaster happens with no explicable reason, or for one that does not match with the scale of the catastrophe.

I realize it's subjective and that not everyone feels the same way, but given the mood of the event and that specific thread, at least up until that point, it would have been better left unsaid/untyped.

I'll say this again:

I'll say this again:

Depends on my audience. I'd either get ghastly looks, or maybe a few smiles. The former reaction is guaranteed, but honestly there is a large swath of people with an appreciation of black humor of this nature.

Sometimes, we require a darkened, tarred perspective to fully understand and perhaps come to terms with a situation. Some people may dislike it, but that doesn't mean it is any less valid. The same questions appeared in art with every new movement or practice. And guess what? Art is incredibly subjective. Guess what is also subjective? Humor.

But then again, that somewhat answers your question, as I personally would have not said it at that event, knowing the likely outcome. However, I'd like to point out that AJOT would seem like an adequate receptacle for such jokes, judging from its past history and content as Sykeasaurus pointed out.

I don't understand how people get so fucking easily offended over this anyways. Clearly it wasn't meant for an audience like you, so ignore it and move on.

Yes, we've established that it's a subjective matter, but thank you for the further explanation. Perhaps that thread wasn't the appropriate place for a joke like that?

I don't recall voicing my personal opinion on the matter -- rather, I was expanding on the discussion as to why the post was removed.
