What do you guys think about him?
At first sight i tought he was just some wannabe rebellious idiot making pop-like rapsongs for the mainstream. Only really knew thrift shop and can't hold us. But from can't hold us i knew he was kind of decent, atleast better than the average mainstream rapper. But after listening to some more songs on spotify and getting the "new heist" album afterwards, i have to say he's pretty legit.
I feel like he gets alot of hate from the hiphop community though. There are only a handful of american rappers i like. Some jay-z tracks, eminem (but the new stuff gets worse and worse imo) and really only 1-2 more that i can listen to. He made me listen to american rap againe.
Before you built your opinion on him you should definitly listen to atleast the "new heist" album.

He's really good, his live performances are so fun to watch, too; more energy and passion than I see usually.

"Can't Hold Us" is a tremendous song and should be a lot more popular than "Thrift Shop". Not to say it's a bad song I just don't think he's getting credit for the right material.

He's cool, check out his 'Otherside' mixtape. I haven't listened to all of Heist but I've heard most of his earlier stuff.

the remix ft Fences is good too

I agree with most of that, he's part of everything that is wrong with this generation and music

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are worse though

Nas is imo the greatest lyricist that has ever lived, long live god's son

Not a fan, thrift shop was amusing but most of his other stuff just doesn't uh....flow right I guess. Not a rap expert but his more heartfelt stuff just annoys me.

thats what i ment with "hes getting alot of hate from the hiphop community". maybe you can help me understand why.
lil wayne, preudo rappers like flo rida, thats whats wrong with the rap music nowadays. but he does completle different music.
yes he has 1-2 tracks that are more suited the mainstream that usually doesnt listen to rapmusic, but does that automaticly make him a bad rapper? if thats true then snoop dogg and eminem must be bad too because some of there new tracks arent exactly aimed at the usual rap listeners too. i agree that hes not a nas, eminem, jay-z but he definitely has his own style and apart from 1-2 songs his music sounds like real rap to me. but i would like to understand the hate against him so maybe you can open my eyes. wont change my opinion on him but i'd still like to get the reason.

Disagree.

And also 2pac, eminem and biggie were better lyricists imo.  Talib Kweli and Rakim are pretty good too.
