Thanks for the guide!  I'm leveling an Ele Shaman right now--this is very helpful.  :D

I wonder though if Echo of the Elements is a bit overlooked.  I'm not saying it's super amazing, (I really love 5% free haste on NS).  But if what I've read is correct--that is, echoes can mastery and mastery can echo--then it should be able to add a pretty sizable amount of burst.  If you shoot 5 spells (including mastery procs) during a burst/kill attempt, you have a ~27% chance to get at least one Echo.  Each Echo is worth 1 full damage spell, plus a 33% chance (from Jonte's armory, I don't know if this is particularly high or low mastery) to proc a mastery for 75% damage.  33%*75% = another 25% damage.  So each Echo is worth 125% of a regular spell.  I think a 25% chance to do 25% more damage on each burst is pretty good!  I know that this is random and uncontrollable, but people frequently use proc PvE trinkets that add 25% damage, which seems pretty similar to me.  Echo has the advantage of being totally unpredictable, (both a disadvantage and an advantage, but it means opponents cannot see a PvE trinket proc and react accordingly).  But it's also maybe a factor in fewer burst attempts than proc trinkets are (which are usually up for more than 1 in 4 bursts).

Maybe 5 spells is too many to assume for a standard burst attempt?  Or maybe it doesn't work like I assume?  I guess I'm not trying to say this is the best thing ever, since it's obvious the other two talents provide huge value.  But it does seem like a somewhat overlooked option, I think in large part due to the fact that it's so hard to tell mastery procs apart from echo procs.  It's hard to see that it's doing anything at all.

I agree, i think echo is completely overlooked especially vs wizard cleaves.  I've had some really insane burst with echo, like triple elemental blast from echo and mastery procs into triple lava burst.

I still think vs any rogue team, or resto druid team, Ancestral Swfitness is too good to pass up sometimes.  Getting that instant hex off or instant elemental blast can really win the game.  Generally vs melee cleaves its just safe to use instant hex.

Echo talent though has alot of damage outside of ascendance, and a bit of nice utility for your healing.  Since echo copies most every spell u cast, it isnt too uncommon to proc an extra healing surge.

Also after playing the PTR, Ele is feeling alot stronger with the 10% dmg reduction change.  The only thing annoying is our glyph slots.  For those that dont always play with unleashed lightning glyph on live, we are basicall forced into all of our glyphs.

It would be really nice if ghostwolf glyph would be made baseline for all shaman specs.

I'll most likely update this guide for 5.3 towards the weekend if I find time and energy for it.

Is it worth stacking 160+ intel in the parts where the socket bonus is pvp power or just using the intel and pvp power gems? My spell power seems to scale down in pvp I've got 26010 outside and like 25600 in a pvp zone

498 vs 496 pvp weapon so your pvp power gets scaled down as well.

120 pvp power is worth about 40 int.
So you're trading 40 int for 160 mastery or haste.
2 haste is currently better than one int in pve (given a decent ilevel) so with a reduced 496 and without rppm trinkets/meta it's closer to 3-1.

In short the difference is so small it doesn't matter either way. You're talking about a miniscule of dps difference with minor advantages either way depending on the situation.
The 80 extra int gives better burst IF mastery procs anyway.
The extra haste (given int+haste gems) would give more surge procs.
The extra mastery (given int+mastery gems) would give slightly more consistent burst.
They all do around the same damage.

Thats assuming you go int/spirit in pants or int/hit tso you can reforge to more haste/mastery. You don't ever int/pvp in the blue socket in pants.

The question is if valor trinket is worth it (intel base stat, haste proc) vs the pvp one
I would guess best option is relic, if you can afford it

I personally really love my wushoolay's.  Yulon is probably better, but I went and sold mine before it had a chance to be good in pvp again (prior to baseline resil)

Is this still true? If so can you please explain why? It seems like the burst with the already crazy procs would be great.

Thanks
