Pretty good guide imo, might help some people. Move the topic where you want @admins

Edit: here is a video of Destiny talking with a DDoSer over Skype, you really get to know what a retarded spastic 15 year old the typical DDoSer is.

it's a pretty ridiculous security vulnerability that skype leaks your ip, which has far worse consequences than being ddosed in a video game.  given skype also has government backdoors and is monitored by microsoft, i'm not sure why people still use it instead of other, superior alternatives like mumble.

in any case, awesome guide.  it's worth mentioning that some vpns, e.g. http://btguard.com, provide "torrent-only" proxies, which is basically just a socks5-only proxy.  you can configure skype and firefox to use it just the same.  the same goes for tor, but tor probably isn't fast enough for voip.

Yeah that's absolutely ridiculous, even the oldest IM services didn't share IP of clients unless they were at least confirmed in the contact list.

Mumbles netcode is amazing but it uses the outdated server/channel model. Whoever first comes up with a voip service that works similar to skype (p2p during the calls), but as good as mumble, will potentially earn a lot of money.

Im sure its not that hard, just nobody wants to compete with skype.

I think only 1% if skype users know what ips are, and of those maybe 0,0005% acutally use the ips for something, so I doubt its high on skypes priority list.
Did anybody try to message the skype devs about the issue?

By that logic, it's pointless to fix any security issues. Imagine how many Windows users know what an IP address is?

Microsoft/Skype is a joke of a company.  If you know the registered email address of a skype account + three contacts on the skype, you can claim ownership of the account and hack it.

the skype devs don't care.  just don't use skype - it's worth using a mildly inferior in some ways program to preserve your privacy and prevent ddosing.

I'm sure we would all love to, but it depends on other people. You're not going to force every RBG raid you join to use your VOIP.

I said 1% of skype users know what an ip is, so they dont care about it = they dont complain, and nobody complaining = skype not giving a fuck.

if thousands of people started sending complaints about their ips being leaked easily, skype would probably fix it within a week.
