I have a internet cable that runs up the stairs and it's annoying. Sometimes people trip over it.

I've seen companies use things to 'stick' the cables to walls and whatever but I have no idea what those things are called or how I can do it myself.
Anyone got any idea what I can do?

Also, does my internet connection become slower if I use a longer ADSL cable?

You mean a longer cat5 cable?  For cat5 you can go out to ~100m.  Signal travels through cat5 at ~.5c, which means you get to the end of a 100m cable in like 2/3 of a microsecond.  So no, it doesn't get slower.

I think ASDL goes on the order of km, not 100s of m.
