A question for you guys who've played at least two seasons in a row lately. Do they make the updated honor gear available with patch release (5/6 March) or with season start (12/13 March)?

All my chars are still predominantly in blues and I want to know when to schedule time for the farming madness.

It's usually like this.

A. Patch 5.2 released and end of season 12 [3-6-13]
B. New honor gear is released w/ the new patch.
C. New season begins 1 week later [3-11-13].

That's just a hypothetical. We don't even know if the patch is coming out at the same time as the season end (it usually does, but we don't know for sure). Also, they're delaying title rewards for two weeks, so it might be two weeks before the new season starts?

I'm actually ok with the 2 week down time because I have a lot of gear to grind between alts.


Also I know someone is going to say "they posted it in the 2 week notice" but they were very vague about it... Does anyone know if the points you ahve past the 4k cap will remain honor during the down weeks again? Or is it going to auto cap to gold this time.
All last xpack the down week your extra conq points remained honor so at some points I'd have 16k honor.

It remains honor. So say you have 4000, then they add 5000 honor; you have 9000 honor which you can spend, but can't gain back if you go under 4000. It turns to gold once season 13 starts. This is how it's been past couple seasons, but who knows, maybe they'll change it up.

Yea I'll be really sad if they decide to change it this season and I lose the points I decided not to spend for the more resil honor gear.

I'm pretty sure what they've done in the past is take the conquest gear and turn it into honor gear once the season ends. This gear you can buy with your excess honor. Then, upon the start of the new season, they convert extra honor to gold and add in a new, upgraded set of gear for the new season.

This allows people to gear up alts or finish gearing mains with their extra honor (conquest points) and then have to grind honor for the new gear, should they choose to have it.

i.e. The Vicious season had 352 ilvl gear and when the season ended, you could purchase this with Honor. Then, once the Ruthless season began they implemented Vicious gear that was 358 ilvl.

i dont think they will make the same mistake they did when s10 was released, they made a new honor gear when season ended, and then a new one when season started and they apologized so im pretty sure the new gear comes next wed, when the season ends

The gear will come the day the patch is released, next reset... So that people have a week to gear their toons with honor gear before the season starts.

No second set released when season is released, just the current malevolent on PTR with updated ilvl and more pvp stats

I thought about this the other day, and if the patch is just deployed as-is, then the honor vendor will have the new 5.2 Malevolent honor gear on it.

Seems like it would make sense to roll out the new gear with the patch, I don't see why they wouldn't.  Someone should tweet GC about this.

They would be foolish to not bring out the honor vendors in the patch, but it's Blizzard so who knows right?

I think they will come on Wednesday though, otherwise there's literally nothing for PvPers to do for 2 weeks, and then after 2 weeks we still gotta fully grind honor gear(if you have multiple-90s or didn't play 5.1) on multiple chars.

patch notes sort of phrase this in a way that sounds like it'll be available this week

"All Season 12 items will cost Honor Points (equivalent to their previous Conquest Point cost) when the season ends, with the exception of any items with rating requirements attached. These items will no longer be available for purchase".

If servers are up on time (lol yeah right) there is still 6.5 hours worth of maintenance to go.  This is the first thing on my list though.

If anyone else remembers, I believe in S11 they fixed this.
