The Freeze nerf reduces your FoF procs a fair amount, so your instant cast damage is less numerous.  We do too much damage on PTR though if we're allowed to cast.

2 casted frostbolt's on that rotation, both having 20% less cast time due to ice veins, one of your targets is frostjaw/petnova into deep
probably two 1,2 second cast, seens hard right?

it's about 3 seconds of casting outside of the frostjaw attempt, which has a 0 cooldown commitment attached to it

I just realized it's not ideal, since with enough haste you can get two frostbolts in to deep freeze.  if you can freecast:

use all the obvious damage cooldowns/procs
shatter a nova with frostbolt+df
double frostbolt in to DF
pom alter time frostbolt in to DF
imp CS, pet freeze, hardcast frostbolt, alter time frostbolt

I realize these are "if they do nothing/you don't get peeled" scenarios but it's new (to me, at least) to be able to reliably full to empty healers relying on NO procs at all, usable any time you have pom+alter time up.

Go try fire, 2x Pyro + Combustion dropped me 350k in 2 globals while I am wearing 68,05% resilience. You don't need Alter Time or PoM for that :/

uh, with icy veins, yeah those numbers are pretty reasonable, with lifeblood and veins mine is less than 1.2 second cast

i presume you mean on the ptr? i have the same haste as you on live and my frostbolts are no where near under 1.2

i like the idea of casting but they need to fix melee interupts  ferals srsly have like 6 on 15 sec cd

It's not nearly that hard. I've had Incanter's go up, only to turn around and use glyphed deep, glyphed icy veins, imp CS on healer, and after 2 Frostbolts hitting for 50k 50k 50k each and an Icelance the target was dead from ~90% (from NT DoTs). Yes, I went from being trained with no idea what to do to winning the game in under 4 seconds. I feel like a complete mongo on PTR playing a Mage.

Haven't played since the beginning of this season but so-so change. Great that they're encouraging casting again, it was really disheartening to see the traditional style of dealing damage be so overshadowed by instant casting and fishing for procs. It might be some old-man-nostalgia esque glasses I had on when I played but trying to kite and get your hard cast damage off seemed absolutely worthless and not even a viable style of play.

On the other hand, damage was already absolutely insane when I stopped playing, I haven't looked at any of the other changes but I hope they addressed that in some form. Even using the global to use Ice Barrier at ~60% health was a risking the match if you got trained.

that's basically what i told them, shattered fb should always be worth casting over instants if you CAN cast, and that's not the case now.  I hope they change the whole tier 90 talents in 5.3.

I just hope that it doesnt create the same "OH SHIT" situasion as when a warlock is casting chaos bolt, even tho if promotes casting wich is great I dont wanna see 60% of someones health dropp just from one frostbolt rofl

Promote casting by buffing damage of frost bolt. Leave other spells as they are? So, that means when they do decide to cast, they're going to obliterate people even more?
