he also uses the logic that our education is bad so the government can control us easier which is just so fucking annoying to me

and he starts off the speech by reciting socialist bible verses yet republicans still loved the speech

Yeah, socialist Bible verses... OK.

He was stating that our education isn't good enough for people to understand government fully and be an active part in it. Schools should do a better job of informing students about the ins and outs of our government. If you think that's not true, I'm not sure what school you went to.

they are socialist, but unlike some people i don't automatically consider anything socialist as being bad

i was watching the speech with somebody and may not have heard correctly/may have misunderstood what he was saying about our education, i completely agree it's shit but i thought he was saying it's intentionally bad for us to be controlled easier

i've heard that argument before so maybe i'm just assuming he felt the same way

Nah, he was simply stating that people aren't informed enough to do their political part for our country. He was saying education needs to be more focused on informing people about political things, he wasn't saying the government was trying to control anyone.

Being political informed and involved is a personal choice and requires a person to do there own research and reading.  It is not the educational systems fault for political ignorant people.

Everything of substance that he said seemed to be commonsense.  I also liked how he talked about the war of 1812 as the British's attempt to re-take over the US when in fact one of the main reasons the war began was because of the US declaring war and trying to annex Canada (at that point a British colony)...

weird
That's because people are idiots.  The only reason why they(repubs) liked it is because they are not in power.  If he did the same speech while the repubs were in office, the democrats would be applauding the speech and the republicans would be criticizing it(but seeing as he is a creationist retard (which usually means you are republican) he probably wouldn't have given the same speech).  Fucking dumb.

Case and point below.
