Could be a good thing, really.  If they add in additional content they don't already have, say they get rights to certain tv shows/movies, etc, I'd gladly pay $5/month for that.  I don't watch TV as it is, literally at all.  Dnno if you know how cable/internet packages work for tv/internet access but that's usually at least $50-$80 a month.  With this, you could probably get away with $30 internet package + $5 youtube subscription and be done with it.  Save a lot more money.

I mean really, if they added in content to compete with Netflix, that would be awesome.  Loads of people don't say shit about paying for Netflix because it's an awesome service.  If Youtube can compete on that level, this would be a good thing.

You realize that the link you posted basically said that on top of making people pay for shit like =3 (bad, ongoing series-like youtube channels), they'd consider doing pay per view streamings of live events? Bro, if you wan't want to pay for a pay per view of a concert, don't pay for it. Do what you're already fucking doing and wait for someone to upload it for free TO YOUTUBE. It just won't fucking be youtube sponsored. I can't even imagine what goes on in your head. Probably something like your avatar.

I think why people are in a huff is because of how and why the youtube platform was created.  Since Google bought it out, it has obviously become much more commercialized and the concern for making money has become a more pressing issue than holding on to the sites traditional objective.  Tbh, I love this move.  I want to be able to get live TV and watch new movie releases via the internet.  Youtube/google have the means of doing this and an immediate fan base that could support it.  Unfortunately it will lose its originally identity but really, it already has.  I'm sure another website will fill that role anyways...
