As it appears our current Malevolent T2 2/2 upgraded weapons will be better than next season's Tyrannical T1 weapons.

Our current T2 2/2 upgraded Malevolent weapons are 498 ilvl while next season's T1 Tyrannical weapons are only 493 ilvl (non-upgradeable).

So that would mean it would be better for us to hold onto our Malevolent T2 2/2 weapons until we can purchase T2 Tyrannical weapons (512 ilvl) after earning 27,000 conquest points for the season.

If you plan on playing alts that are currently undergeared for next season, you might want to get that T2 2/2 weapon this season in preparation for next season. Or else you will play at a disadvantage having weapons that are 5 ilvls lower for at least 2 months. I would also upgrade as much gear as possible for that slight advantage early in the season.


Also to note, Tyrannical Gladiator gear have an ilvl of 493 while S12 2/2 Malevolent gear are 491 ilvl. That is only a 2 ilvl difference which doesn't seem like much. I hope blizzard can adjust this properly.

It seems like blizzard wants to prevent PvE nerds from using PvP gear to get into LFR and from using PvP weapons as a headstart for PvE but this makes absolutely no sense for the PvP side of things.

Here are screen shots of the item stat differences found on the PTR 1/30/2013.

I'm not quite sure but I think I read a post about, that the Malevolent Gear will be downscaled in general, atleast the weapons?

Really? I hope I'm wrong here.

I only saw posts where they said they are downscaling the S13 Malevolent gear's ilvl (next season's honor gear) so people won't have an easy way into LFR, while leaving all current Malevolent gear alone.

@perculia Upgraded gear will not lose its upgrades. Upgrading will likely return after 5.2, but we'll evaluate all the feedback and see.

If you go to the ptr section of wowhead, it has them listed as 493(matching non-elitle gear). And t2 is currently 512(same as elite gear).

I'm fairly positive that the ilvls just simply haven't been adjusted yet. t1 will probably end up around ~500+ and t2 will probably be ~520+. T2 will have to end up being fairly high in ilvl.. to make sure it's better than heroic weapons(seems pve weps will push 541). Unless, of course, they just add a lot more pvp power to pvp weps.

As they already said, they will overbudget the pvp power and the resilience on the new gear. The difference will be almost nothing.

I really doubt they would miscalculate that bad where this seasons weps will be better than the t1 version of next season, what zuni posted is probably right about removing upgrades completely

Oh thanks! That PTR database is showing Tyrannical weapons at 493 ilvl so our 498 ilvl weapons are still better but not as much as I thought... and things can still change and get adjusted of course. And the PTR wowhead database isn't exactly the most reliable source.

They already stated they wont be removing upgrades, I'm guessing they haven't decided on how much they want to buff the power/resi of everything including the s13 malevolent gear and haven't adjusted the ilvl/stats yet as a result.

2 ilvl difference is quite laughable, although  I think its good that the Ilvls dont get too carried away, as it'd be harder to balance.



I really hope they wont buff resilience too much :X Can almost stack 70% already, if they give the gear much more resilience it's going be a borefest

Isn't resilience worth much less after a certain point though? So in s14 people will be at a point where resil isn't worth much and instead stack more damage and we have another s9.

Resil only becomes worth more, it's been discussed to death.
