crane can be tremord so if you have a fear on your team it can often bait tremor, shale spider gives undispellable kings buff and has a further range and shorter cd but 1 sec less on it.

basically depends on comp and play style. when playing with a shaman healer the spider goes up in value as you give everyone the kings buff.

Crane B/C web wrap can be MD'd. For my PHD i use two cranes and a monkey. Monkey vs shaman teams with tremor. But if you were running a comp like KFC, two cranes would be fine. Especially since every sensible and sane shaman plays with a shadow a monkey will be your greatest asset. The only problem is that their are clinically retarded.l

You can also WoTF out of the Crane's sleep. Shale Spider if BM imo.

obviously depends on your comp and theirs. rather than keeping buff pets in your stables, it's probably best to keep at least 2x shale spiders (1cunning/1ferocity) and 2x cranes (1cunning/1ferocity) so you'll know what comp you're facing. on shadowburn, we're almost all alliance so i dont have to worry about anyone wotf out of lullaby or taking less stun dura from shale spiders with orc racial

Shale Spiders effective cc per minute is 6 seconds. Crane is 4 seconds.

The spider also gives a kings buff so your healer can always buff mastery which is a huge damage increase. The spider is much more useful in my opinion, but I use a crane when I play MM. You can use web wrap to land traps if you bait intervenes and md's etc. with scatter, or you can interrupt casts/peel with it. Crane has its uses, but as people stated it can be wotf'd or tremord.

I find cranes are useful against Orc players because it's essentially a sleep on a stun dr, that isn't effected by things like the stun reduction meta and the Orc racial.  Outside of that you gain little benefit from using a crane>shale..  1 second longer stun from the crane like someone mentioned earlier. I've used it to bait tremors and follow up with a fear from one of your partners. I guess it's all about your playestyle and what classes you're playing with and against.

against wizards, especially spriests I use the fox 25% dispellable curse of tongues on ur target + anything within 10 yards radius on only a 7 seconds cooldown and lasts on all targets for 30 seconds. one of the biggest positives of it is that when used as a stabled stampede pet it puts up the cast debuff up twice and itll give you about 40 seconds of curse of tongues on what is usually their whole team

Shale Spider because of shorter CD, its unbreakable on damage, and kings buff. It's dispellable and shorter than lullaby but no one dispels it ever and the duration is long enough to throw a trap.
