So due to rbg cap for gear anyone feel like arena participation is way down? How much less participation?

Fact is around 50% less from last season. Count up the teams in each bg. Either everyone moved to 9 for que's or rbg is replacing arena pvp

You may feel like there are a lot of people playing, but it's only small group of hardcore players on all their different alts.

Maybe it's time for duelists to get gladiator too, because it's creating too many angry nerds who end up rage quitting anyway. Either they quit after getting glad or they get duelist and quit because they didnt get glad...
With half the glad spots this season there's going to be even more sad nerds who spent every week slaving those rbg's just to compete for duelist and i'm rofling hard already at the future of arena elitism

And alts. I used to cap 3-4 toons every week. Now i queue 10 games on my hunter a week and thats it. No suprise to me.

Not that it would help arena participation.. But having to WIN 8 games a week is retarded for any casual or alt. Playing 10 win or lose was a better system. People sitting with 25% winratio needs to play 32 games in order to cap(Unless my math failed).

Not that i've played much arena since wotlk but still, I simply have no patience playing alts anymore. They ruined pvpalts as much as they did pvealts.

However ON TOPIC, the worst part of the current system is that if you play a rbg the points are "absorbed" by the arena cap, forcing you to first cap arena and then play rbgs. Back to the 5 wins per week or 10 win/losses together with bringing back rewards to 2v2. You don't need to add titles to 2v2(but honestly I couldn't care less) but do need to be able to get weapon from 2s, it may be a setupbased bracket but I still enjoy it.

I am not trolling - all I'm saying is that you can't be so arrogant. Everyone passed the duelist stage - the duelists of yesterday are the glads of today.

i dont even bother capping anymore, 6 min ques for 2s cba.

Used to play 5 alts + in arena, got 9 level 90's and only 1 is geared for arena they ruined it with gear upgrade and the shear difference between honour gear and malo gear.
Funny thing is the honour gear was higher ilvl but they nerferd it start of season cause of lfr ilvl. GG blizz

I agree that participating appears or atleast feels like it's down when queuing at what are supposed to be high pop times, and personally I don't feel like I'm playing arena for much such as titles.

simply observing trends sir. I like arena right now even though kfc is hard for rdru healing.   Well I liked s11 too as rdru and got duelist so w/e

the issue is with the player base; people wanting gladiator or quitting. People wanting good team ratio's or disbanding. People just don't want evidence that they are mediocre. Their rating proves they aren't the best or aren't geared so they'd rather just disband their team or have their 2600 wintraded rbg hero title for epeen instead of enjoying the game

Even if this post has been made every season since season 4, it is certainly more true now than it has ever been in the past.  

Take the ruin battlegroup as an example - there are currently only 12 gladiator spots in 3v3 on the ruin bg (of course this figure will increase a little before the end of the season).  This is significantly less spots than there have ever been since I've been actively playing arena (it's roughly half the number of glad spots from last season).  

The lack of arena participation is particularly troubling considering it is the start of the expansion, which is when it should be most active.


Also, I disagree that the issue stems from the playerbase quitting because they only want glad, or don't like to show poor win loss ratios.  As others have already explained, the main issue is with gear scaling and acquisition.  It is impossible to compete at a high level without good gear because of the huge difference in ilvl between honor gear and upgraded malevolent gear.  And because it takes so many points to acquire such gear, it is impossible to come into the season late and catch up.  This is the direct reason for 6 of my arena partners from last season quitting, and it is the reason that I now only play one alt this season instead of the five alts that I played last season.

I quit playing because of the amount of unavoidable instant CC making the game less fun than it used to be, as well as starting late and being unable to catch up on gear.

I don't think that title distribution is the main reason why people are quitting.
