If you go for upgraded staff instead of upgraded MH and non-upgraded OH you gain:
102 stamina, 45 secondary stat and 45 resilience.
You lose:
98 intellect and 5 spellpower.
Conclusion: MH+OH is better for shadow, even if you never upgrade OH. If you're disc you might consider staff since there's no MH with spirit, but I'll leave you to check those numbers.

For disc is staff no doubt
the class is already having mana problems, and even our best mana source is based in spirit now (rapture) you cant lose the spirit from your weapon

I knew the numbers differences, I just wasn't sure if more defensive stats were better than offensive now. I haven't played in almost 2 years and am trying to get a feel for the current state of play. From the sounds of it though if I want to go back disc at any point in time I'd be better off getting the staff.

Three econometricians went out hunting, and came across a large deer. The first econometrician fired, but missed, by a meter to the left. The second econometrician fired, but also missed, by a meter to the right. The third econometrician didn't fire, but shouted in triumph, "We got it! We got it!"

1173 int --------------------------------------- 1190 int ----------------------- +17
782 crit --------------------------------------- 793 crit ------------------------- +11
680 resi --------------------------------------- 793 resi ------------------------ +113
5910 pvp power ----------------------------- 5912 pvp power -------------- +2
6810 spell power ---------------------------- 6813 spell power ------------- +3
so basically you lose the off-hand enchant (165 int) and gain above stats.
so it's not a disaster no.
those stats are for t1 s13 1h/oh and crit staff, might be different now that they buffed t1 weps? did those numbers before this reset.

They did not buff 1hands, they splited the PVP power from mainhand to offhand. so its the same

Thats obvious, but since its a % uppgrade, it will remain the same in % of whats better, i thought he meant a invidual buff as he only mentioned 1hands

Yeah obviously it doesn't change if 1h/oh is better than staff, i just mentioned the t1 buff so some guy wouldn't call me out on wrong numbers.
