I walked a lot two days ago and in the evening my knee started to hurt, mainly when going downstairs. I barely drank while walking or even before and read that this might be the reason why it hurts but it never happened to me before. Today I noticed that it was slightly swollen.

Did anyone else experience something like this? Is it common or do you think should I see a doctor?

go see a doctor if it continues. i had some knee problems, but it was from the way i was sitting in chairs.

feel around your knee cap. is it pain or discomfort?

did you do anything that would cause impact (more so than running impact)?

I don't feel anything bad when I feel around the knee cap. Only when I walk and walk downstairs. It's the moment when I raise my left leg and it's "in the air" when I feel discomfort. I didn't run at all. All I've done during that day is walk 2h without drinking until afternoon.

is it more in your bones or around your knee?

Give it a few days and see if the discomfort goes down.  You may not need to see a doctor, just because it's "free" doesn't mean you should go out of default.
I'm always right.

i ran alot and worked out alot and then all of a sudden my knee would hurt, more on the bottom side of it. i went to the doctor and i found out i had a slit on my Patella tendon. ive gone back and they said it healed but everytime i walk a good amount or work out my knee tends to hurt and swell up. so you definately want to get it checked. if you do have a small slit i would relax bc if u have acomplete slit on any of ur tendons they are painful surgeries. id go check it out asap.

Is walking that distance something out of the ordinary for you? It's most likely just irritated, take it easy for few days and if the swelling doesn't go down see a doctor or a physio.

^How badly did you hurt it? If it just hurts when you squat I'm sure you can fix it by squatting properly and doing some rehab exercises.
