With inner focus or any other off-GCD ability, you can cast the spell while still on GCD from a previous cast. With spirit shell, you have to wait for the previous GCD to complete before you can cast it, even though it doesn't trigger the GCD.

Now that disc might actually be somewhat playable, can we get 50,000 people to tweet at ghostcrawler every 15 minutes or something until this gets fixed? It drives me crazy.

Stoneform (dwarf racial) works exactly like this.
It's not too much of an issue once you get used to it.

Can you spirit shell at the end of the cast (spamming it as the cast finishes) and have the effect on that cast? You can make ascendance work that way currently and it's very very useful.

Focused will and a few other class nerfs might make it at least possible to play in a limited number of comps. Item levels on pvp gear are also going to continue to rise with the new item upgrade system, and pvp resil scales better than pvp power (although maybe the weapon upgrades are enough to offset this).

Don't get me wrong, I don't expect it to be anywhere near top tier, but it's enough that maybe I'll consider giving it a shot until we see how the patch changes shake out. Lately I only conq cap with tradechat randoms each week since my normal teammates aren't pushing pvp seriously yet, so messing around with it won't hurt anyway.
