The enveloping mist nerf was pretty brutal :(

For tips I would like to add some of my own...

Use Healing Spheres!!! Since the 5.1 buff, they heal for about 50k-60k and it only costs 6k mana to use while it being on a 0.5 global. The spheres heal almost as much as surging mist and it costs 1/4th the mana. The only drawback is that they don't build chi and you have to aim it in the path that people are running into.

I usually put 3 spheres down near my portal and the lock's portal at the start of the match. So If anyone on my team gets in any danger while I'm cc'd they know where to go to get a ~150k instant heal assuming they are near enough and are not stunned/rooted.

I also use the spheres to heal myself if I'm being trained and I am unable to torpedo/roll away. It is the fastest and most efficient mana spending heal to use to top yourself up with. I try to use the spheres as much as I can during matches. Using them on a rooted/stunned team mate can be very effective but it requires fast reaction/awareness and might take a while to get used to doing.

I also sometimes chi torpedo straight into a wall or pillar to get an instant AOE heal. You can instantly do 3 torpedos with celerity talented and it will heal for about 30k each torpedo. But just be careful of wasting the torpedos because you may need it.

Jab, blackout Kick, tiger palm, and melee attacks are also heals but its something I rarely use in 3s. You would probably only punch pets and totems in 3s because it can put you in harms way trying to punch an enemy player. I do use it religiously in 2s though to help land kills. Also it is something else you can use while silenced in addition to spinning crane kick.

i roll into pillars sometimes to get the snare removal while kiting melee :), healing spheres are good, but im not crazy about healing other ppl with them tho i just put them in the open or on ports usually.

They are insanely cost effective though if you play with people who know what they are :P

P.S .
for those of you trying to run mage lock monk b/c u see me running it, or any comp really for that matter with a caster or two on your team, ive been using a pretty nifty trick that i havent mentioned. I found that I can at times make up for my inability to purge during my teams burst sequence, by rolling into range of my team, popping thunder focus tea, waiting for the aura mastery to trigger, and channeling zen meditation. This will allow you to absorb all counter spell, shock, or silence effects that may stop your team from potentially landing a kill. (the aura mastery is needed because, if you absorb a silence with zen med you will be full locked out and you channel will end)
^ use with caution as you lose the ability to aura mastery and heal.

I like the term "hotfix" for nerfing something...

Haven't realized these changes till now, yeah I'm a bit slowpoke-ish.

Mistweaver
- The mana costs of Jab, Spinning Crane Kick, Soothing Mist, Crackling Jade Lightning, and Renewing Mist have been increased by 30%.
- Soothing Mist and Crackling Jade Lightning now have a 30% chance to generate Chi when they deal damage (was 35%).

It's getting worse and worse. :/

The hunter usually dies in our comp. It's hard to keep him up with the constant pressure and most of our games im stuck to a pillar. I can rarely follow up CC because of how vulnerable I am to CC.

Anyone think its worth going the ~3540 haste (in wise serpent) to gain the extra tick of enveloping mist (assuming you don't have 5% haste from a team member)?  I think in my current gear I only trade off 1% crit to get the extra haste needed.

Well apparently they are getting buffs come 5.2.  Personally their CC really needs to be looked at, it's the weakest of all the healers.

I'm curious how all other mistweaver monks are doing at the moment. Moreudirl I haven't seen you stream lately. Are you still enjoying your monk?

I'm just capping my monks atm, other characters/classes are more fun right now.

But 5.2 seems promising.

Healing Spheres are really strong. Basically you can avoid any hardcast without aura mastery and use RM. 5.2 will make monks the best RBG healer. Ring of Peace just adds a better alternative to Mass Grip / Ring / Solar Beam for RBGs and will work really well in arenas, too. Also things look like melees will be even stronger and I think we are the best anti-melee healers next to the Paladin overlords.

The healing style is totally different from other classes. I look mostly on the nameplates to aim the Spheres. RBG dispels are a bit slower like this as the mouse is often far from the raid frames. In arena direct dispel macros avoid this issue.

The problem with this design is that it's a bit boring to mainly spam spheres.

What I really like is that ranged Paralysis will be baseline.

Healing spheres are great when using them on yourself or using them on your stunned or frozen-in-place teammate. I'm finding my monk very enjoyable, I can see progression in every arena. Probably because we're running the only comp that works with mist monk right now though. Come 5.2 I think the monk community will grow and the class will be on par with the other strong healers.

How are Mistweaver's Looking in 5.2? I skimmed the patch notes and they seem like they will be decent with the Chi Wave buff and the Ring of Peace thing.
