WHY aren't they viable today? :S is it only because of the shields? Cause im doing some fine healing with shadow gear and sure, the shields are kinda bad atm but what else?

rshams/rdruids have multiple CCs, interrupts, defensive CDs, anti-CC, and mobility that place them much higher than every other healer, especially disc.
There's no reason to bring a disc priest when you can bring a shaman or druid. Especially in the CD department.
Every spec besides disc just needs 3 random important abilities taken away because of power creep.

They have mana, cooldown and survival problems at the moment, the actual healing output is somewhat fine.

5.1 will help somewhat. Not a lot though. But I could be wrong, I'm by no means a good Disc Priest. (currently 1.6 as disc/rogue 2v2 SO SKILL)
