PvP Gear upgrades for conquest points on PTR

However, I think this will improve activity even if it means only for the seasons end, and prevent camping rating. If they are determined to go through with this patch, they should equalize the amount of points you gain from arena and rbgs so people actually play what they like, which im assured arena is for most of the people here. I also agree with talbadar about the old system where you could cap conquest points with 5 wins in arena, it might help with keeping multiple characters geared.
With that being said, I still think rating decay might be the best option atm. Yes it is a punitive incentive, but it feels like its best for this community.

I am meant to do 50 dailies everyday, raid 3 days a week, do LFR, find a Sha/Galleon group, finish capping valor in heroics and thats just to be at an average level in PvE on one toon.
And now I won't be able to just arena when I feel like it and be competitive, I will actually have to RBG, so when exactly am I meant to fit this in?
Blizzard maintains they want casual people to be able to play the game, but to be honest I fail too see how anyone who has a full time job can hope to PvE and PvP at a reasonable level and this is without even trying to gear alts.
This change will just force me to queue less in 3's. I usually support Blizzard in their decisions and try and wait to see how they go, but this one may force me to either drop one side of the game (PvE or PvP) or just not be competitive as I don't have time to RBG + Raid + arena and maintain a life and by the time the PvE side of things calms down (Dailies, LFR, Valor etc etc ) I will be so far behind in PvP due to not enough time for RBG's and 50k+ conquest to get for gear, it won't be worth trying to play competitively!
Not happy with this change at all.

The key to keep people playing is making them able to enjoy the game, keeping them FREE of the shackles blizzard is laying down on them
- merge BGs
- make it so you can queue with anyone at any time (THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT POINT)
- make people able to play all their classes to the fullest, with any spec they want (make it so you can swap your gear or you get three kinds of gear for the price of one)
- stop stupid rating requirements for buying gear (making people sit on ratings)
To keep players from camping their rating, simply introduce a rating decay or inflation WITHOUT a stupid need to grind gear.
As already said, this solution makes it impossible to play alts or to enjoy other sides of your character
For me personally, this means I will actually not buy MoP now and already regret the one month worth of play time I bought today.
It's a good thing there are many other good games out there

pretty much how i feel
i was actually thinking about trying to pve a little this expac until i found out that you need to do a ridiculous amount of dailies to go along with it and the fact that capping valor points requires doing multiple dungeons per day instead of just one
now this type of mentality is transferring over into pvp too? ....

2.) As everyone plays like a Sissie and camps rating the only way to get participation is to force it.
3.) Rating decay is a good choice, but WoW's concept always was to increase and not decrease. I think most of us, at least me, would prefer rating decay and fixed gear for everyone, like on the tournament realm. Combine that with short, region-wide seasons or in other words, make a permanent tournament realm with short seasons.
4.) Until that we have tournaments for competition and live server arena/rbg for the grind.
1. i dunno, as annoying as boosters can be, i remember almost half of my games being against boosters in cata during most nights and i was still getting insanely long ques. to think what would happen to que times if there were no boosters...
2. most people that arena do not sit for an entire season. people are always queing during the season. the reason why people sit is because ques are terrible. you see some team at rank 1-5 at the same rating for awhile and start thinking that they are just "sissies" and arent queing just so they keep their rating, yet they are actually queing a lot, but just grow tired of sitting in long ques. I did this in season 3(back when there was no mmr). got rank 1, immediately disbanded and remade because the ques were unbearable and the season was only 2 months in.
rbgs are the only thing that might be more active with this change. arena needs to give a higher cap than rbgs if you want more people in arena, especially given the fact that its 20x easier to get a 2k-2.2k rbg rating than it is to get that rating in arena
3&4. yes, short seasons has always been the solution but blizzard wont do it.
seasons should be a 1-2 months long, if not shorter. (you can progress the gear every 5-6 seasons to stay in line with pve). hand out vanity rewards and titles when necessary to provide the incentive. THIS is what increases participation.

Rating decay like good old WC3 and SC2 would solve this problem. Errr, wasnt WC3 and SC2 from Blizzard Entertainment?
Farming gear for 6 month sucks so hard. Like Smir said: in WoW spending time gives you too much rating. Its not a fair competition and that dismotivates many players.
Blizzard will NEVER learn it. They should really listen more to the community. Ghostcrawler should be kicked at first.

1. Allow players to have 5+ teams for all brackets. Bam, people are playing again. Teamhopping becomes a less detrimental thing meaning that anyone can play with anyone. People would play for fun again.
2. Merge all BGs
3. Cross-server arena teams. I understand they would lose money from all of the mongoloids that transfer three times every season, but it would make for a healthier game. Sub fees are what's important, and right now subscriptions from the admittedly-small PVP playerbase are in jeopardy.

Very good ideas, I really want to be able to have multiple teams, but that would require a complete overhaul of the rating system since it could potentially lead to certain people holding all the glad spots, mmr gouging, insane inflation, etc.

What stops getting a 2500+ in 3vs3 and keep grinding points in 2s or 5s or rbg?
Blizz fail

However with the increased need in conq points because of the upgrades, if they changed it so that 3v3 gave the highest possible cap instead of rbgs it could actually work.
Play 3s every week or fall behind in gear. Sounds good to me
