Heroic PvE weapons will be superior to PvP from a damage stand point.  Unless my math is wrong.

Starshatter
Heroic
Binds when picked up
Two-Hand Sword
13608 - 20413 Damage Speed 3.60
(4725.1 damage per second)
+1294 Strength
+1941 Stamina
Requires Level 90
Item Level 502
Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 949 (1.58% @ L90).
Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 716 (2.11 @ L90).

Malevolent Gladiator's Greatsword
Season 12 Elite
Binds when picked up
Two-Hand Sword
12168 - 18253 Damage Speed 3.60
(4225.2 damage per second)
+1156 Strength
+1735 Stamina
Requires Level 90
Item Level 490
Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 771 (1.28% @ L90).
Equip: Increases your resilience rating by 771 (2.49% @ L90).
Equip: Increases your pvp power by 2235 (Unique).

PvP power is linear, meaning it scales the same.  265 PvP Power = 1% Damage increase.

Now lets look at the damage of both weapons

Malevolent Gladiator's Greatsword Season 12 Elite has 2235 PvP Power meaning that we can divide that number by 265 to determine the damage increase that you will receive on players.  2235/265 is 8.434  So It will hit 8.434% harder.

We can take the damage from the Malevolent Gladiator's Greatsword Season 12 Elite and take it times 108.434% to determine it's raw damage.

So, we will take the min, max, and dps and multiply them by 108.434%.

So. First off we have 12168-18253 at a dps of 4225.2

Now if we multiply that by 108.434% we end up with

12168*1.08434 = 13194   18253*1.08434 = 19792.45  at a dps of 4225.2*1.08434 = 4581.55

From pure weapon damage Malevolent Gladiator's Greatswrod  is putting out 13194-19792.45 at a dps of 4581.55

From pure weapon damage Starshatter is putting out 13608-20413  at a dps of 4725.1

Meaning that from a pure damage stand point, Heroic Starshatter will be 3% better.

However that isn't all.  Not only does Heroic Starshatter do 3% more, but it also have 138 more strength, meaning that you will have an extra 276 AP from using it.

Another concern that i have is that this will effect fury warriors greatly, because the PvP power bonus is unique.  Meaning that the offhand would not be only 3% weaker, but actually 11.434% weaker.

Along with this, a lot of skills are based upon weapon damage rather than AP alone, meaning that it's going to widen the gap between these two weapons even further.

As melee, according to your math that is correct. However casters don't benefit from base weapon damage like melee do, making PvP weapons superior for casters.
In addition you didn't include the lack of resilience on the PvE item, until MoP is released we won't know if you will be able to afford to play with PvE weapons and lose out on the extra resilience (as the expansion continued in Cata people were able to use more and more pve gear due to the higher amount of resil on pvp items)

I'm not sure how to do the math for spell casters, but I do know the important of spell power.

Maybe someone here can do the math for me, but without looking at the math, I'm guessing that casters are in the same boat as melee.

Look at the differences in stats and spell power between these two.

Regail's Crackling Dagger
Heroic Elite
Binds when picked up Main Hand Dagger 2515 - 4672 Damage Speed 1.80
(1996.3 damage per second)
+947 Stamina
+552 Intellect
Blue Socket
Socket Bonus: +60 Critical Strike
Requires Level 90
Item Level 516Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 329
Equip: Increases spell power by 8441.
Equip: Increases your mastery rating by 412

Malevolent Gladiator's Spellblade
Season 12 Elite
Binds when picked up Main Hand Dagger 1754 - 3260 Damage Speed 1.60
(1566.8 damage per second)
+744 Stamina
+496 Intellect
Requires Level 90
Item Level 490Equip: Increases your critical strike rating by 331
Equip: Increases your resilience rating by 331
Equip: Increases spell power by 6628.

Now that's just an assumption, as I haven't done the math, don't know how to.  Hopefully someone could check this.

3% damage and 200ap isnt the world, 771 resi can be for a warrior (things can change in mop ofc)

There will be people using pve weapons, but I doubt it will break the game this time (from what I can read out of the data).

700 res is less than 3% damage reduction.

I don't really see how that's much more important than 3% increased damage.

However, you did bring up a good point, even though PvE weapons might be in arenas, it's not going to be game changing.

As long as we don't see retarded proc weapons like gurth / bryntroll or legendary gems in pvp I dont really care, this is the closest pvp and pve weapons have EVER been, thats good enough for me

don't think it'll have a huge impact. did you factor in the loss of res from not using a pvp weapon which would make you take a percentage more of damage from a player with pvp power on their weapon.

Untrue

But ye definately seems like there will be a lot less to gain from spending 293837237 hours per week pve'ing, unless ofcourse one of the pve weapons gets a retarded proc.

xD we shall just hope they make pvp weapons so strong, that it deters the use of pve items.

atleast T2 wep should allways be the best pick!

I take it you mean that HC PVE weapon might still be worse than T1?

If so I'd be very happy.

nono I meant that T1 PvP wep could turn out to do less damage then. Heroic PvE Weapon

aka HC PvE better then T1 PvP, we shall see what the future has for us!
