Hello everyone,
tonight I will do an interview with Ciqs and Azshene from Team Paradigm, which will be published here on AJ. As usually I would like to add some questions from you. Just post them in this thread.

How many battlegrounds pvp zones arenas whatever are they in GW2? I never played GW games i am wow arena player so i am interested how things work skill wise and how teamplay works? Im gonna participate in beta on 20th but still mainly interested in PVP aspect of the game and since it looks so good and yet so diffrent might give it a try :)

Hey,

I would really like to know how they feel about the movement of the characters in the game. Especially:
  • Jumping (not being able to use abilities midair; being able to 'steer'/change motion midair -> no run-jump-turn-lookback-turn-land-run)
  • Strafing (slower movement while strafing compared to running forward)
Do they like how it is?
Why so?
Possible reasons why ANet made it this way?

Ask them if they know if you know that there is a Other Games subforum.

Not sure how i would "formulate" the question correctly but what do they think of arena in GW2? I just can't see this 5v5 bg system will keep this game a live . It's more like RBG, and i don't see that this kind of pvp will be that interesting to ppl as much as wow arena was. I understand it's harder to make coz there are no healers but would like to hear their opinion.

Which map do they favour and why?
Are PvE Mobs on Forest balanced? Is the concept itself good?
Some question regarding a spectator client since ANet will most likely read it and then get reminded of how important it is to fucking have a spectator client.

It will be up as front page news on AJ, but I can link it from here as well. But it will take some time to go through the edit. I have 14 pages of material and it contains images, two videos, two small texts in addition to the interview. And as my English needs to be corrected, it will take some time. I sure could use a corrector for that...

There is a keybind (default is Z, I think) that automatically makes the camera look behind you. It's not exactly what you're looking for but I personally think it grounds the game a little better instead of making it a 180-instant-cast spam jumpfest.

And I think it's a really great design mechanic to have strafing move at a reduced speed (but still being faster than backpedaling). Why? It indirectly tones down the arms race of gapmakers and gapclosers between ranged and melee builds. In GW2, if you want to run away at max speed, you lose the ability to damage your opponent (unlike WoW where you can run and do jumping 180 casts). This means that melee will almost always close the gap if the person they are chasing is damaging them, and if they aren't able to close the distance, they are probably not taking damage. There isn't the possibility for situations where classes without snares are unable to close in on something that is doing full damage to them -- such as a ret paladin chasing a fire mage spamming scorch and instants. It's a really smart way of avoiding rock-paper-scissors in terms of class design.
