Death match style arena would be pretty crap in GW2. Too many already run with 1shot setups, there's no need for a game type that will encourage it more.

I like my condition Ranger but it's sub par to a powerhouse glass cannon setup just like with most professions.

Healers are what kept arena matches viable since they could reset HP bars.

In GW2 an arena mode would see battles not lasting more than 25-30 seconds. There are not the amount of immunities, CC, or HP resets of WoW.

It's a good thing for 5v5+ though. If there's one thing I won't miss about WoW, it's facing a 3-4 healer BG team with no smoke bomb on our side. Healers start breaking things once there are more of them to chain cleanse each other, making CC moot outside rogues and druids.

There are three reasons I think 3v3 could work in GW2.

1. Every class can kite extensively, and there is much more room for skilled play (imo)
2. Dodge negates all damage
3. Players control their own health bars

I think that people are comparing it to WoW arena (remarking how shit gets globaled in WoW, even WITH healers), and then looking at GW2 and saying "well there are no healers so something will always die instantly". From my experience in the 5v5 structured PVP, this is so not the case. Large-scale engagements are extremely exciting and by no means a global-fest. There are so many synergizing buffs and utilities between classes that you can really back up whoever on your team is getting targetted.

Oh, and as much as I love GW2, only having a domination style game type is a horrible fucking mistake.

Pets is something WoW actually did more or less right, and Anet should take a look at how they function in this game. AoE avoidance and uptime tools like Dive/Dash in addition to movement speed would really help minion/pet builds not be so gimped. If they move at the same speed that players do, they'll never have serious uptime. They're also really, really fragile.
