I was thinking I'd make something for my mom who's been cooking for me my whole life, and I want it to be something fairly special without being so advanced an inexperienced cook like me will fail miserably at. Ideally the ingredients shouldn't be spectacularly expensive either, IE no caviar or foie gras. Any suggestions, chefs of AJOT?

this is my favorite food to serve people, as it is cheap, easy to make, tastes amazing and yet seem like there was more effort to it than there really was.

500g of small pieces of meat (pref beef but pig works too i guess) (fry them before u put them with the other stuff)

5dl (36% fat) cream

2-3dl creme fraiche (pref with added flavor of chili/paprika if possible)

1-2 paprika

chili (the amount depends on how hot u want it obviously)

some salt

some garlic powder

some white pepper

some cayenne pepper

some beef broth

abit of soy

let it all boil together for maybe 3-4 hours while u occasionally stir in it

serve it with some vegetables and some kind of potatoes

i always have sugar peas/pods or whatever theyre named in english to this food, if u google image it u can find 2 versions, i use the thin version, it adds an amazing crunch which imo is important, have them served fresh as the crunch will be destroyed if u cook them or if u have had them frozen.

lasagna

super easy to make, super good, most people don't bother doing it often

just get some precooked lasagna pasta, make everything else yourself (doing the bechamel right is the most important part, as you can't really fail on anything else really, and all you need to know to make a bechamel is to go easy on the milk with small doses, little by little)

no need to get overly complicated and you can get very good results easily, shouldn't take you more than 20-30 minutes of preparation and 30? (something like that) minutes in the oven
