Is anyone planning on playing any of the events this year?

I think I'm gonna try and play in, I think event #43 and maybe a $1000/1500 NLHE event. And trying to win a seat for Main event from local cardroom/casinos.

Party at the Rio?

Playing just one.  Event #38, June 20-June 22.  1.5k buy-in NLHE.  I'm wiring funds this Monday and I just pretty much have to show up after.

Friends wanted to go to Vegas to party, so I decided to go a few days in advance to try an event, too.  Shooting for the main event next year.

(TR members get sweet deals on rooms.  I'm lowest tier and I got a free suite Wednesday and $27 for Thursday.)

Only time you are gonna need a deal is Friday/Saturday in almost every hotel. Sunday-Thursday rates are usually really low relative to the buy-in.
And FYI, WSOP Circuit means low buy-in events that happen in casinos that belong Harrahs in random cities outside Vegas.

I am gonna play a few WSOP sats because those are usually soft and sell since I am a huge tourney fish and -EV.

WSOP just sent e-mail saying they got my deposit.  Now all I gotta do is show up and sign the release form!  Excited for my first WSOP outing.

If it's a good experience, win or lose, I'm gonna go back next year and do more than one event.

And yeah.  $27 for two nights, even though they're midweek, is pretty awesome in my opinion.  I imagine higher tier TR members get better deals.

Most likely up my session times. I've noticed in my tourneys and cash games I play really well for a good 6-6.5 hrs, after that in cash games I see myself getting a bit spewy or even in tourneys and do dumb shit. I needa get used to longer playing times while keeping myself from getting bored or catching myself before I do stupid shit like 4bet 79s or something. I think in the events they go like 10-12 hours? Sometimes longer if they are playing until a certain # of people.

Yeah I often find myself getting bored and doing the same telling myself I'm "trying to be creative in my plays".  And everyone has their own way of doing it--not just getting used to playing extra hours.  Honestly I think standing up for a few minutes even if it means misisng a couple of hands might be a chipsaver.  I'm gonna play a couple of local tourneys this weekend and see if I can stay focused.

Things I'm considering for these long tourneys:
1) Bring some music but don't keep it on the entire time--don't want to miss valuable information.  Just use it to get refocused.
2) Erring on the side of comfort when it comes to clothes.
3) Bringing healthy snacks and don't eat large meals.  Basically nothing with grease 'cause I don't want to end up with an upset stomach.

After writing the last post I went to B&N just to look around.  I impulse bought Negreanu's MORE tips and Phil Gordon's green, blue and gold books.  I looked up the prices on Amazon later and saw I could save around 40 bucks.  Still can return the books... but too lazy.  Haha.

I've started to bring like an apple/banana and a small bag of almonds to my sessions ( It's worked great so far, I used to not eat/drink anything for my sessions) as well as stand up and stretch/walk around. It's very noticeable in terms of not getting sore from sitting upright for hours.

I found that being hungry is better to keep focus on long sessions. I think Huck Seed said the same thing for tourneys. Also don't worry about 10 hour wsop sessions because you will AT LEAST get a 2 hour dinner break if I recall correctly. You'll get to rest and refocus.

I agree. I just make sure I have a solid breakfast with carbs and I am fine afterwards throughout all my sessions.

Anyone know around what time day-3 of a $1500 NLHE tourney would end?  My friends are arriving in Vegas on day-3 of the tourney, but I booked a couple of rooms for them at the Luxor.  Obviously the Luxor would need my ID and credit card to check in that day.  Check-in doesn't start 'til about 3, but I'm just wondering *if* I happen to make the final table, how long my friends might be waiting for me?

Probably doesn't matter, because if I final table then my friends wouldn't mind coming to watch haha.
