Guess I'll play devil's advocate here. He's pretty constructive when he's talking about the damage and you think it's arrogance? He gave you valid feedback and you and the priest don't even consider it.
People who never listen to suggestions and stick their head in the sand are the kinds of people I don't want to play with.

Being right is no excuse for his behavior but just saying you should learn to take criticism.

"you need to do damage" isn't exactly constructive
