So will the battle.net invitationals take place at level 85 or 90?

other than the fact that the arena tournament is always like a super battlegroup where you constantly get queues and its the most amazing thing in this game

Are they really going to take the top 8 teams and have them go straight into a MoP tournament? Seems a little bizarre because the top 8 teams in Cataclysm will certainly not be the top 8 teams moving onto a new expansion.

Unless.. this tournament 'phase' means nothing and it just means that those that pay for the TR will get access to the MoP TR , which turns out to be the "real deal" TR where everyone really competes for top 8

They haven't really answered this clearly enough. But my best guess would be at level 90. It would be silly to create a tournament for level 85 at the moment, when you could "force" people to keep playing and buy MoP this way.

This would definetly make it much more even and balanced. Giving a few more comps outside the more popular ones a shot. Though some comps would probably also benefit more from it than others.

Looking back at the previous tournament tho, it happend in full S8 gear so I wouldn't count on it. It would be smart, marketing wise, if they had all the gear full S11, since alot of people buying it probably dont have it on live. Giving them a chance to play in "new and exciting" gear sets.

It really comes down to if Blizzard wants to throw the PvP'ers a treat or please the crowd.

My best guess would be that TR will be played at level 85 patch and the expansion will come out before regionals.

I highly doubt that the expansion will come out mid TR as anyone can tell from beta, it's not close to done.

Option B I suppose would be that for players who sign up for this TR will have access to a full time TR in the expansion, this would prob be to compete with GW2 that is coming out around the same time and has a feature exactly like this.
