My 5 year old half sister can put RAM into a motherboard (after being told where to put it, she can't read guides yet).

The very worst thing you can do is smear the thermal paste so you have to put a new one, which costs like 1 dollar.

The second one is slightly less of a ripoff
They are selling you <$800 worth of parts for only $1500.
I cannot in good faith recommend either of those, because it would be akin to taking a thousand dollars and setting it on fire.
EVEN IF you were super rich, you would get much better performance for your money if you just paid some nerd to build shit for you.

When I came here I didn't expect anyone to recommend parts that I need to buy to build my own computer. I was expecting recommendations on good brands, good pre-built models, etc.
So while I did read all your recommendations, I cannot stress enough that I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL about computer specs. Yes, given time and research I could find out, probably, and with research I could also built a desktop. However, it looks like too much research to me, not to mention browsing a bunch of sites for the perfect parts, etc. I'm just not into putting that much effort into it.
Yes, I'm sure a few people will say "but it's hardly anyeffort at all and you can save so much money!"
Remember again, I know nothing of a computer's internal specifications. I'd rather just browse desktops online and pick whatever looks like will be the best, and have it arrive my house. SO. MUCH. EASIER.
So again, thank you all for your help and for reading the topic.
OH ALSO, forgot to mention: This is extremely rural Kansas. Nobody around here builds computers. The only computer guy we have is like 70 years old (which by itself means nothing), but he hasn't kept up to date on current computers. So.

If you can afford to burn $1000, then go for it, nobody's stopping you. But nobody here is going to recommend that, because we do not like setting fire to thousands of dollars.

1) Go to a website like this one, or here: http://www.teamliqui...topic_id=137554
2) Post your budget & use cases (how much you can spend, and what games you want to play, anything else you want to do with the computer)
3) Wait for someone else to do all the work finding parts for you. There are a lot of people who just know this stuff and can rattle it off the top of their head in like 2 minutes. People will tell you exactly what to buy, and optimize for your budget.
4) Order the exact parts they tell you from newegg.com or ncix.com
5) Put things together like expensive legos. I am dead serious when I say that my 5 year old half sister can do the majority of the heavy lifting putting computer parts together. Since you can read & follow advice on youtube guides, you can do it a lot more easily than she.

you're gonna pay a little more then you would with parts, but it's honestly not that bad of a site.
these guys aren't exaggerating when they say it's easy. i helped a friend build a computer over the phone who's never even seen the inside of one

Honestly you could probably get Pharaun himself to put a build together for you if he could keep ~1000 dollars in the end that you would've otherwise spent on a similar fix build
