http://www.wowhead.c...ccducRho:aomisk basically hemo for bleed debuff and only use sinister strike for combo point gen and evis. this will probably do the most damage with legendaries and will take advantage of them to their maximum capability.. enchant boots to move speed and prepare to win!

Wouldn't it be better to switch the points from "Coup de Grace" in the 2nd specc to "Aggression"? I mean it increases the dmg from sin strike, backstab AND evis, "Coup de Grace" just increases evis and env dmg.

all you have to do is switch to a person with no trinket when the legendary procs and dump 5 evises into the target.. gg they hit for 30k with stage 1 dags on mages i cant even imagine legendaries.

most of the time the proc is best used for getting up a recup snd and then 2-3 evis's

and u cant switch when it procs because it gives u combo points on your current target not on the target u switch to

You actually can't switch to anything when it procs, the proc is unique to the target you're attacking when it procs.

So assuming I'm on Player A, and Player B has no trinket.
My legendaries proc, the unlimited 5 CPs only exist on Player A, I can't use them on Player B.

And Champ is correct in that only when the stars align(you have FW up when they proc), is spamming evis even really noticeable.

And as far as the spec is actually concerned, I tried it when I first got legendaries(late January?), and came to the conclusion that SS is equivalent to Hemo in terms of damage, with the energy cost of backstab.

So in comparison:

Sinister Strike:

• 39 Energy
• No % Crit Chance Modifier

Backstab:

• 40 Energy
• 30% Crit Chance Modifier

Hemorrhage:

• 29 Energy
• No % Crit Chance Modifier

So if you compare, you're taking the worst of both worlds and combining them, and on top of that you're giving up quickening.

Admittedly, this spec sounds good in theory, but it just doesn't work out. You only end up energy starved with your opponent tanking you forever.

I could get into all the math behind the actual damage that each ability actually does, but it's 2 AM, feel free to test it out for yourself though.

This might not have any meaning, but I did some tests with the stage1 daggers (scaling will work roughly the same anyways with the stage2 and stage3.



Both same gear setup, stab was in a hemo spec.

Testing damage difference between SS and Backstab though. Used the spec was given in OP for the Sinister Strike spec.

Thing is, not only will Sinister damage go up with the legendaries, so will the backstab damage.

Someone with legendaries can run tests about damage difference, all I know, is that with Stage 1 those were the backstab vs Sinister (specced) results.

I could be doing something wrong, been awake roughly 22hours so brain probably didn't work as intended.

Just did tests, it isnt very effective to be worth the loss in quickening. I kinda felt like trying that sort of spec without imp sin strike for aggression backstab spec but I'm sure that probably doesn't pan out either so I didn't bother.

This is with legendary daggers that I tried it aswell so :[

But I still applaud the open mind and willingness to explore other possible options. So good job OP!

what kind of mages ure hitting? 0 resil or so? never seen a 30k with 397 weps on a mage, atleast if they had pvp gear.
