Decided to try and get some Ret gear on my Pal, actually won all 5 pieces of gear from LFR for tier so I figured I'd use that over 390 honor gear for a bit.

Which pieces are the go-to for this season though? Legs/Shoulders or? I figure legs are a no brainer and shoulders would net the least resilience loss, is that the way to go?

If you want to avoid haste use head & legs. If you don't want to avoid haste then use shoulders & legs.

I haven't touched Ret since BC when seals could be resisted, what are people doing these days?

I thought Mastery was the thing last time I saw :v

Yeah, you want as much mastery as possible. Not really taking [Sanctity of Battle] so haste is pretty much useless.

So for arenas it's generally Hit>Mastery>Crit>Expertise.

you want the most crit you can get. Crit heals everything crit strikes. then mastery mastery was only good last season. Crit is retarded right now

Id say going for the NORMAL 2set and not the LFR2set would be worth it.

So is the general idea helm/legs then? Crit vs Mastery was discussed a lot, but the helm has hit/expertise where the shoulders have haste/mastery, neither option can really prefer crit, just with the helm I would gain more resilience by going 403

well you get alot of crit from talents so it's not a big priority to grab crit. It's a great stat so def don't forge out of it, but your main stats need to be mastery and str. I tried a haste build a while ago to bump crusader cooldown way down but it didnt pan out the way I wanted it to, mastery does alot more damage.

I don't understand why you would take Crit over Mastery. When it comes to raiding the general consensus is that you're going Hit>Expertise>Mastery>Crit>Haste. Obviously in arena it's not too important to stack expertise. And as I said above Ret doesn't really take [Sanctity of Battle] so haste is pretty much useless.

Mastery is simply offering more DPS then Crit, and with all the Crit talents that Ret has and the way that Crit generally works (the more you have the less it's worth), I don't see why Crit would ever be better then Mastery right now.

You're just a fool if you think it's absurd to make a comparison between doing damage in PvE and doing damage in PvP.

Self-buffed, Crit is more valuable than Mastery: one point of Crit Rating provides more DPS than one point of Mastery Rating. However, once you add in raid buffs (5% Crit aura, MoW/Kings for 5% Agi->Crit) you gain enough Crit that additional Mastery is now superior: one point of Mastery Rating provides more DPS than one point of Crit Rating. Following some single value could have you seeking the incorrect stat for your circumstances.

And really, 2pc t13 is worthless. Judgement is a spell you rarely get to use anyway if you get procs and have to dispel yourself. You lose far too much resilience.
