I recently picked up 2pc T13 on my rogue, legs and head specifically. Been running this in 2s together with rest of the pvpset and HC raggy trinket, tier 1 legendary daggers etc. Putting me at 17000 AP & 41% crit unbuffed with 3.5k resilience.

The 2pc: After triggering Tricks of the Trade, your abilities cost 20% less energy for 6 sec.

28 energy ambushes. Discuss.

Rogue damage is through the roof and needs to be nerfed somehow, quickly.

Met a rogue using 2pc pve and the new proc trinket thing, lets just say he forced cd's in the first 4 seconds of the game solo .__.

PVE Gear is ridiculous and Rogues are getting a head start on weapons which is our biggest damage increase, every season starts with people complaining about rogue damage as far back as I remember because of PVE gear (most of the time) it will even out as always when mages get tons of mastery/locks get more int etc. If they are still over the top I'm sure we will see a nerf to find weakness maybe, but for now deal with it I guess

20% less would make it.. 40*.2->40/5=8

if it were 28 i believe you get an entire extra ambush in during dance w/tricks.


More importantly though is what it let's you do with backstab during a find weakness window imho.

Assume 100% Crit rate. Backstab with tricks-> 32 energy-5 from glyph=27 energy backstabs

Assume starting at full energy, 100+60+36=196 total energy (60 energy from natural regen and 36 assuming best case scenario recup ticks). 196/27<7 backstabs worth of energy. Ends up being a solid 6 backstabs with a little leeway from a perfect scenario. Which is over 100k damage easily (weave in 2 eviscerates and drop 1 backstab off the end- since 5 pt evisc is a net 0 energy gain/loss after the GCD ends) and it's a pretty notable chunk of damage.

Add in vial of shadows and it doesn't matter who's healing.

Keep in mind that this is best case scenario and invariably requires the rogue to energy cap himself and make one of the most blatantly obvious swaps in known history. A more reasonable expectation for an average burst window like this (which requires a vanish, restealth, or shadowdance) is ~70k. This also assumes no one on your team likes to heal and/or peel. One impact stun ruins that whole shpeel.


Conclusions: Remove vial of shadows, find some % to drop backstab's damage by (too biased to decide, though I feel something like ~8% would probably do the trick- assuming vial and other retarded trinkets disappear forever).

Mages have to actually cast a frostbolt icelance combo to get decent damage, if your being trained this can be difficult and easily prevented by running around a pillar and having to juke all the time, a rogue can just sit on you and do insane unhealable damage.

110 as in 4set PvP? You don't get that if you use 2set PvE, remember. Unless I've got the meaning of the 110 in the start wrong.

I might need to look into the Vial for my UD Rogue, but I definitely will try to get it on my Human one.

Wouldn't it be more viable to reduce FW arp in PvP scenarios(like Colossus Smash) instead of nerfing Backstab damage?

I'm no theorycrafter, but just throwing this out here.

Been checking numbers around, about the 32 vs 28 energy cost. Would it be possible that 40*.2=8 is wrong, and the 20% is calculated before Slaughter from the Shadows talent, so it takes 20% off the original 60 energy cost instead of 40?

Update:
Numbers are indeed calculated that way, making it 60*.2=12, which fits the tooltip showing 28 energy.
