if it were 28 i believe you get an entire extra ambush in during dance w/tricks.
More importantly though is what it let's you do with backstab during a find weakness window imho.
Assume 100% Crit rate. Backstab with tricks-> 32 energy-5 from glyph=27 energy backstabs
Assume starting at full energy, 100+60+36=196 total energy (60 energy from natural regen and 36 assuming best case scenario recup ticks). 196/27<7 backstabs worth of energy. Ends up being a solid 6 backstabs with a little leeway from a perfect scenario. Which is over 100k damage easily (weave in 2 eviscerates and drop 1 backstab off the end- since 5 pt evisc is a net 0 energy gain/loss after the GCD ends) and it's a pretty notable chunk of damage.
Add in vial of shadows and it doesn't matter who's healing.
Keep in mind that this is best case scenario and invariably requires the rogue to energy cap himself and make one of the most blatantly obvious swaps in known history. A more reasonable expectation for an average burst window like this (which requires a vanish, restealth, or shadowdance) is ~70k. This also assumes no one on your team likes to heal and/or peel. One impact stun ruins that whole shpeel.
Conclusions: Remove vial of shadows, find some % to drop backstab's damage by (too biased to decide, though I feel something like ~8% would probably do the trick- assuming vial and other retarded trinkets disappear forever).

Mages have to actually cast a frostbolt icelance combo to get decent damage, if your being trained this can be difficult and easily prevented by running around a pillar and having to juke all the time, a rogue can just sit on you and do insane unhealable damage.

I might need to look into the Vial for my UD Rogue, but I definitely will try to get it on my Human one.

Numbers are indeed calculated that way, making it 60*.2=12, which fits the tooltip showing 28 energy.
